Chapter 26

As they arrive at the hospital, they wheeled in Ryosuke into the operation room as Kaiyo sat on the bench outside the operation room as the sign light went on. She looked at her hands as it was still trembling and covered in Ryosuke’s blood. She doesn’t know what to do. She pulled out her phone as she dialed a number.

“Do you know you can at least tell me you left? I was talking to thin air!” Hideaki fussed.

“Hideaki…” she whispered as Hideaki on the other line felt something was wrong,

“Did something happen?” he asked in a concern tone.

“Ryo…Ryosuke” she said in a trembling tone.

“What happen?” Hideaki asked

“He got stab and is in the hospital” she whispered.

“Hold on I will be there” Hideaki said as he hangs up as Kaiyo said there crying.

About 10 minutes later she heard footsteps running down the hall as she look up and there he was.

He bent down in front of her as he held her hand. It was cold as ice as her face was full of tears.

“He will be fine” Hideaki whispered as he sat on the bench holding onto her hand. A nurse ran out from the operation room as both Hideaki and Kaiyo stood up. Another nurse ran up to her,

“I called, and they said they are on their way but there is traffic” the nurse said to the other one that had blood on her scrubs.

“We need it now, the patient is losing too much blood!” the nurse yelled.

“Doesn’t he have relatives that have that blood type?” the other nurse asked as she dials the number on the phone again.

“His sister isn’t his type, we asked that already” the nurse said.

“What type do you need?” Hideaki asked.

“O, we currently are short on the blood and the blood bank that is supposed to deliver it today is stuck in traffic. He needs the blood now” the nurse said.

“I’m an O I can donate” Hideaki said as the nurse let out a sigh.

“I will be right back, I promise” Hideaki said as he left with the nurse.

Kaiyo said there rubbing her face as she hope everything is alright. About15 minutes later, Hideaki return as he sat next to her. His sleeve was rolled up as he held onto gauze on the arm they took blood from.

“That needle is thick as the time they got my bone marrow” Hideaki complained.

“You seem pale, are you going to be okay?” Kaiyo asked.

“You seem paler than me, I should ask you that question” Hideaki said.

“I will be fine” Kaiyo said as she looks at him,

“You two totally owe me after this. They took like 2 bags of my blood!” Hideaki whined as Kaiyo smiled a bit at him.

He place his hand over hers as he held it tightly,

“He will be okay. He’s a fighter, he survived dying the first time, he will again” Hideaki said as she nodded her head.

About an hour later, the light on the operation sign turn off as both of them stood up. The doctor came out as he took off his surgical mask,

“Are you Ryosuke’s sister?” he asked.

“Yes is he okay?” she asked.

“He made it. You can relax now. We move him to the ICU room for probably tonight and tomorrow till everything is back to normal before we move him to regular room” the doctor said.

“Thank you so much” Kaiyo said shaking the doctor’s hand.

“You actually have to thank your boyfriend for donating blood to him. Without it, he probably wouldn’t have make it.” The doctor said as he left.

“He just called you my boyfriend” Kaiyo said as Hideaki looked away while smiling

“You owe me big time now” Hideaki said as Kaiyo rolled her eyes and walk off. “I will begin my list you know” Hideaki said running after her.

As Kaiyo walked into the ICU room where Ryosuke was lying, the only thing they can hear is machines in use. The heart monitor beeps normally as Kaiyo walked over to him. She held onto his hand which was warm than it was before he arrived at the hospital. Hideaki stood behind her as he gave her shoulder a squeeze,

“I told you, he’s a fighter like you. He will make it.” Hideaki said as Kaiyo turn around.

“Why do you help me over and over when I always run away from you?” Kaiyo asked

“Because love has no boundary and I believe that one day you will see it. Beside I don’t want to lose a brother in law yet” Hideaki said joking as Kaiyo smack him. “Ow, my arm is still in pain due to losing a lot of blood” Hideaki said as Kaiyo ignore him.

“I thought of a way for you to repay me” Hideaki said as Kaiyo looked at him as he just smiles.

“I want to spend one week with you. No running, no hiding just a normal couple for a week” Hideaki said as Kaiyo just look at him.

“You can have all the time to think but just soon” Hideaki said

“Okay” Kaiyo said

“Okay as in the time or okay to my request?” Hideaki asked

“Okay as in to spend time with you. Like Seungho and Aiba mentioned before, I should face it and see what happens” Kaiyo said.

“I said that a millions of time and you don’t consider it but when Aiba and Seungho say it you agree with them” Hideaki said in his head as Kaiyo looked at him. “That’s great. When Ryosuke wakes up, we will see where this relationship takes us” Hideaki said

Hong Ki looked at the clock on the wall on the café as he stood behind the counter holding the wet towel wiping it back and forth on the counter repeatedly. He let out a long sigh as the door to the café open. Lillian walked in with Hiro both arguing,

“I’m saying its your lost I mean seriously who goes breaking up with a rich dude because you have no feeling?” Hiro asked

“Because I don’t! We both agree that its better off to keep this relationship as mutual friends” Lillian said

Hong Ki pretended to wipe the tables around where they were sitting as he continue to listen to the conversation.

“Okay, please do tell me your not stupid to also return the gifts he gave you” Hiro said

“Which one?” Lillian asked

“How many things he gave you?” Hiro asked

“Well the 2 sport cars, diamond jewelries, purses, a condo and I think a horse” Lillian said

“What he gave you that many?!” Hiro shriek

“Yeah I just said one day I really like that sport car and he got it as a gift” Lillian said

“My god woman! You landed a gold mine and yet you let it go?! How stupid are you?! Hiro yelled as Hong Ki stood next to him.

“Its not nice to yell and if she has no feeling then just break up” Hong Ki said defending her.

“See even he understands it. I’m not one of those gold diggers beside we barely see each other anymore so its easier to end it before its drags on” Lillian said

“So what did you gave back to him?” Hiro asked

“The condo only” Lillian said

“What?! Why you could have kept it and make a profit out of it!” Hiro said

“Nahh because his name was on the title so if I sold it, the profit goes to him. Beside, on the salary I’m on now, I cannot afford it so I just give it back.” Lillian said

“So what do you guys want?” Hong Ki asked

“Um…get me a ice latte” Lillian said

“Same” Hiro said as Hong Ki walk off.

About 10 minutes later Hong Ki came back with their drinks, he places the drink on the table.

“How come her cup is larger than mines and has whipped cream?!” Hiro asked pointing to Lillian’s cup.

“That’s ice latte” Hong Ki said

“I got the same thing as her how come my cup is smaller than her and got no whipped cream?!” Hiro asked

“She’s our 100th customer there” Hong Ki said rolling his eyes.

“And she got a cherry too >.<” Hiro mumbled as he reaches over as Lillian smack his hand,

“too bad, so sad!” Lillian said putting it in her mouth. “I feel so special today after the break up” Lillian said

Hong Ki disappeared and came back with a piece of chocolate cake. He put it in front of Lillian.

“I didn’t order this” Lillian said

“On the house ^_^” Hong Ki said

“Where is mine then?” Hiro asked as Hong Ki ignores him and walked off.

“He totally hates me” Hiro mumbled as he tries to get a piece of Lillian’s cake but she smack his hand away as she put a piece in her mouth smiling as Hiro glared at her.

Then the door open to the café as Jung Min and Riyo walked in.

“There you are! I been calling you all day” Hiro mumbled as Jung Min sat down next to him as Riyo went to the back of the café. “So who is she?” Hiro asked

“Isn’t she Jin’s girlfriend?” Lillian asked

“You can ask her if you want” Jung Min said as Lillian gave him confused look. Riyo came out as she was helping out at the café. She then came back with a cup of coffee,

“Hope you still drink it like that” Riyo said as she walked off

“Like what?” Lillian asked as Jung Min took a sip of it and smiled.

“He has a specific way of making his coffee. If anybody else makes his coffee he wouldn’t bother drinking it after one sip. In this world beside him, only his missing girlfriend knows how to make it for him” Hiro said as he stop, “She said hope you still drink it like that meaning she knows your habit and you’re drinking it nonstop…” Hiro said

“That would mean she’s the missing girlfriend?” Lillian asked as she continues eating her chocolate cake.

“Stop flaunting that piece in front of me and just eat it already!” Hiro fussed

“I like to take my time you got a problem?” Lillian said eating it slowly.

“I hope you choke on it” Hiro mumbled as Lillian choke on the piece as Hiro laughed as Lillian glared at him while drinking her latte

“Anyways is she the one?” Hiro asked as Jung Min just smile at him leaning back on the chair.

“But isn’t she dating Jin now?” Lillian asked

“Damn, she dated two of our inspectors, she is good orrrr she has a motive” Hiro said

“Does Jin know you two used to?” Lillian asked

“Nope” Jung Min said

“Did she tell you what happen to her two years ago?” Hiro asked

“Nope” Jung Min said

“Why not asked her? She just disappears and made your life a living hell you got the rights to know!” Hiro said

“When the time is right she will tell, I won’t force her” Jung Min said

“But she’s with Jin now” Lillian said

“We will see” Jung Min said

“That means you’re going to win her back?” Hiro asked as Jung Min shrug

“If you are, we both will be rooting for you” Hiro said patting Jung Min’s shoulder as Lillian gave him two thumbs up.

Lillian then went up to the counter as Hong Ki and Riyo were chatting,

“Hey you need something else?” Hong Ki asked

“What? You got more stuff on the house for me?” Lillian asked

“Sure what do you want? Cheesecake? Or frappe?” Hong Ki asked

“Are you sure your boss won’t kill you for that?” Lillian asked

“Nahhh she’s on vacation with her boyfriend or fiancé somewhere and won’t be back, so she won’t know” Hong Ki said with a big smile

“Then can I get a cheesecake” Lillian said as Hong Ki gave her a slice, as Riyo handed her a piece of double fudge chocolate.

“Can you give that to Jung Min for me?” Riyo said as Lillian nodded her head

“Thanks!” Lillian said walking off holding two dishes; she placed one in front of Jung Min as she sat down.

“I didn’t order this” Jung Min said

“But somebody gave it to you” Lillian said as she look toward the other side where Riyo was taking orders

“Am I the only one that doesn’t have a cake?!” Hiro asked as he noticed his two friends having a slice of cake

“Well you can order one and pay for it or you can go flirt with Riyo and see if she gives you one” Lillian said as he took a look at Jung Min who looked at him

“Do you want me to die or something?” Hiro hissed as Lillian tried not to laugh

Keiichiro walked out of his office and noticed only Erika and Hayami sitting at their desk.

“Can you tell me why there is the two of you and the rest of the team missing?” Keiichiro asked

“Well you see, Jin left and it looks like he won’t be back since it has been 2 hours he’s gone. Lillian and Hiro went to get coffee and Aya said she’s taking a half day off to do some personal business” Hayami said not taking his eyes off his laptop.

“They have been gone 2 hours, what kind of coffee are they getting?” Keiichiro asked

“That I don’t know” Erika said

Then a police officer knocked on the room door as they look up,

“Sir Keiichiro I assume?” a uniform officer asked standing at the door.

“Yes”

“My boss told me to transfer you this case file.” He said handing Keiichiro a folder.

“What is it?”

“This afternoon a young boy was stab on the street. They said it can be a psycho that may be harming children out in the street for no reason or that he might be taking a interest in the family” the police officer said

“How is the young boy?” Keiichiro asked

“He’s in ICU but the doctor said he’s in stable condition for now. His sister is at the hospital she was with him when it happen” the police officer said

“Thank you” Keiichiro said as the man left. Keiichiro open the folder as his eyes widen. He closed it and went back into his room grabbing his jacket and left without saying anything.

“Wasn’t he suppose to tell us to go with him?” Erika asked

“If he didn’t say, Erika-san, Hayami-san to go then we don’t need to” Hayami said

“What are you doing so focus?” Erika asked

“Watching anime on my laptop” Hayami said opening a bag of chips, “what about you?”

“Calling my boyfriend to see if we are hanging out tonight” Erika asked dialing Ryo’s number but kept getting his voice mail. “Maybe he’s busy” Erika said as she sat next to Hayami to watch anime he handed her a bag of chips as they sat there laughing

Ryo reached over to his cellphone and noticed he got 5 missed calls all from Erika. He closed his phone as a figure at the door.

“What you miss her?” the figure asked

“I was just checking my phone, don’t have to be so paranoid” Ryo said as the figure walked over to the bed.

“Are you sure its okay for you to be here when you’re supposed to be at work?
“I have a case that is been dragging on to long and need a break. Beside I miss seeing you so it should be okay to sneak out once in a while” Ryo said

“You miss me in bed or in general?”

“How about both? And what about you? Skipping out of work” Ryo asked

“That new inspector isn’t there and so I decided to request the rest of the day off to do things for myself”

“Ah so madam Aya is lazy as me then” Ryo said laughing as Aya jump onto the bed as smacking him with a pillow.

“Can I ask you something?” Aya asked

“Ask” Ryo said

“When will this be over?”

“Soon. Everything will be over soon and we can leave” Ryo said as he hug Aya tightly. “Here I got you something” Ryo said handing her a bag.

“It better not be another sexy lingerie” Aya said as Ryo shrug, she open the bag and took out a box and inside was the necklace he brought at the mall.

“You got to be kidding me this is beautiful” Aya said as Ryo took it out the box and put it on her neck

“What do I get for that?” Ryo asked as Aya gave him a kiss on the cheek. “That’s all?” Ryo asked as Aya put her arms around him.

“Yes” Aya said laughing as Ryo lean in to kiss her.

“Or you can do something else” Ryo said as Aya smack him lightly as he lean in for another kiss and this time it was longer as he pulled up the blanket covering them.

Keiichiro ran to the hospital and stood there as he noticed Kaiyo was with Hideaki talking. He approach them as they look at him,

“Hey, I’m the inspector on your case” Keiichiro said

“Oh why is that?” Hideaki asked

“Apparently they believe there is a psycho that is out hurting people randomly or that Ryosuke was targeted because that person wanted to harm you or him” Keiichiro said.

“So can you tell me what happen?” Keiichiro asked as Hideaki excused himself to go to the cafeteria to get coffee.

“I was on the phone on the opposite side of the street waiting to cross over when Ryosuke was on the other side on the phone with me. When the walk sign appeared, I told him to wait for me on the that side so I begin walking with a bunch of people and then all sudden there was a crowd and I pushed my way into it and there I saw my little brother on the ground bleeding” Kaiyo said

“Did you see who done it?” as Keiichiro asked as Kaiyo shook her head.

“Okay, do you or anybody around you made enemies lately or that somebody is out to get you all?” Keiichiro asked

“Not that I know of” Kaiyo said.

“Well that’s all I can asked for now, but when your little brother wake up can you give me a call. He might have seen who stab him it can help us solve this case” Keiichiro said as he got up and shook Kaiyo’s hand and left.

Hideaki returned with two cups of coffee as he handed Kaiyo one.

“What was that about?” Hideaki asked

“He’s just doing his routine things” Kaiyo said. “So what do you think?” Kaiyo asked

“Who would do this?” Hideaki asked as Kaiyo nodded her head.

“Whoever did this is aiming to harm him.” Hideaki said

“He’s 16 who would have a grudge against him?” Kaiyo asked

“What I mean is that harming him to get to you and me. He’s important to both of us, to harm us is to harm a person next to us” Hideaki said

“You’re saying…” Kaiyo said as Hideaki cut her off,

“Toma and his partner coming back is not a good thing. He wants something from us that is why he attacked” Hideaki said “He came and talk to you am I right?” Hideaki asked as Kaiyo nodded her head

“What did he talk to you about?” Hideaki asked

“Nothing in particular some stupid things” Kaiyo said before Hideaki could say something his phone rang as he excused himself and walked off.

“Hello?”

“We checked, they are nowhere in the motel they were saying” Seung Ho said

“So my guess is right then.” Hideaki said

“Is everything okay over there?” Seung Ho asked

“Everything is fine, thanks” Hideaki said hanging up.

He walked over to Kaiyo as he held her hands,

“How about I take you home so you can take a quick bath and I take you back up here? I don’t think you want Ryosuke to see you like this right?” Hideaki asked as Kaiyo got up

“Thank you for everything” Kaiyo said as Hideaki looked at her,

“Don’t worry about it. I promise you I would always look out for you and I will and beside I get something in return a week remember” Hideaki said as Kaiyo rolled her eyes

“You don’t have to remind me about it” Kaiyo said walking off.

“So tell me Lillian, why dump Yoochun all sudden?” Hiro asked

“Didn’t I tell you, we have no interest in common” Lillian said

“Then why out with him in the first place?”

“None of your business”

“You know from what I heard you like to date bad boys but Yoochun isn’t one that really makes me curious” Hiro said as Lillian glared at him. “I read this article that about 60% girls usually date guys that resemble their first love so is Yoochun one of them? Who was your first love?” Hiro asked as Lillian slam her hand on the table

“I got no first love and I ended it already so stop asking!” Lillian yelled as she storm out the café.

“I just asked” Hiro mumble

“You hit her soft spot. Till now, I can see she didn’t get over her first love” Jung Min said as Hong Ki excused himself and ran out the café.

Lillian walked around the city looking at other people,

“Why did I get so pissed off for no reason? It been like 5 years he left why can’t I just delete him out from my head? She mumbled as she sat down at the bench near a water fountain. Her hand kept moving the bracelet on her wrist as she look at it,

"And yet I still wear it why can't I just take it off" she mumbled

She looks up and noticed a young couple that was still in their school uniform. The girl got onto the boy’s bike as he bike around in circle as the girl smiled and laugh enjoying the moment.

“He basically vanished into thin air. No phone calls, no letters. He left without saying goodbye” Lillian said as she held her tears back

She sat there as time slowly passed by,

“Maybe I should vanish into thin air like him” she whispered

“If you vanish into thin air, who would I mess with?” a voice said as she looked up

Hong Ki sitting on the opposite bench waved at her,

“If you vanished, I won’t have anybody to torture” he said with a smile.

“So why are you here?” Lillian asked

“To make sure you don’t vanish” Hong Ki said

“You’re really odd you know that” Lillian said as Hong Ki got up and sat next to her,

“I don’t get what is going on but whatever it is, I’m here” Hong Ki said patting her hand on the bench.

“Thanks”

“So…you want to tell me what happen?” Hong Ki asked as Lillian look at him.

“It’s just something in the past that I cannot let go” Lillian said

“Maybe it’s time to let it go, if you cannot let go of the past, how can you make new memories and move on?” Hong Ki asked

“The only thing is that even though I say I want to move on, I somehow don’t want to because I want to believe that one day that person would come back” Lillian said

“How long have you two dated?” Hong Ki asked

“Does it really matter?” Lillian asked.

“How about this, let’s go for a ride so your head can clear up” Hong Ki said standing up.

Before Lillian can answer, Hong Ki drag her to his scooter as he put a helmet on her.

“This is yours?” Lillian asked pointing to the scooter that was yellow.

“I like yellow” Hong Ki said as he got on while Lillian got on behind. “Hold on tight” Hong Ki said as he started to drive the scooter.

Seung Ho went out to the balcony and look at the night sky as Aiba came out handing him a bottle of beer.

“Something in your mind?” Aiba asked taking a sip from his bottle

“I have a feeling something bad is about to happen” Seung Ho replied

“Like running out of food?” Aiba joked

“I wish it was that but this bad feeling I can’t seem to shake off ever since aniki called asking us to find out of those two are still here. His voice seems worried but yet calm” Seung Ho said

“What can we do? We already gave up who we used to be, if we go back to that route, it can be no returning” Aiba said

“I know just that I’m worry about them you know.” Seung Ho said as Aiba patted his shoulder,

“Like you said, she was trained by aniki and the top assassin we all know is aniki too so just relax” Aiba said

Seung Ho unbuttons his sleeves as he rolled it up. Aiba looked at his arm and noticed a bracelet as he looked at Seung Ho,

“Till now, I never see you take it off” Aiba said

“Habit I guess” Seung Ho replied

“Or that it was from her that is why you cannot let it go” Aiba asked

Seung Ho stared at it for a while but return looking up at the sky,

“Maybe because I cannot let it go” Seung Ho replied as he gulps down the whole bottle of beer and walked back into the apartment

“Then why did you leave when you cannot forget her?” Aiba asked shaking his head

Riyo closed up the café as she noticed Jung Min was standing outside waiting for her.

“You do know I’m a big girl and can find my way home right?” Riyo asked

“Yeah I know that, I just want to make sure you’re alright before leaving” Jung Min said as Riyo gave him a pat on the shoulder,

“I’m fine now go home though I doubt you would sleep since you drank over 10 cups of coffee” Riyo said as Jung Min just smile at her

“If you need anything just give me a call” Jung Min said walking off. They departed different ways when Jung Min turn the corner he stop as he stuck his head out to see Riyo one last time.

He was about to walk away when his cellphone rang,

“Hello?”

“Hey Jung Min its Keiichiro, by any chance you seen Jin?” Keiichiro asked

“No why?”

“Damn it” Keiichiro mumbled

“What’s wrong?” Jung Min asked

“One of the off duty cops called me saying they saw Jin who is really drunk leaving the bar and I wanted to see if anybody saw him to make sure he didn’t get into some troubles” Keiichiro said

“Well good luck finding him” Jung Min said hanging up before Keiichiro said anything else. “This is not good, if she’s going to find him” Jung Min mumbled as he ran toward the direction Riyo was walking but she was nowhere in sight.

Riyo walked into the apartment as she smell alcohol. She placed her purse on the table as she looked around. She walked into the bedroom and found the bed empty when all sudden there was a grip on her arm. She turned around facing a drunken Jin as he glared at her.

“Jin let me go!” She yelled as she tries to yank her arm back but he pin her onto the bed as he glare at her.

“I tried calling you why didn’t you pick up?” Jin asked angrily

“I left my phone at home that’s why!” Riyo yelled back as she tried to push Jin off of her but his arm pinned tightly on the bed as he stares at her.

“Oh really? Then tell me why I caught u with Jung Min? What’s your business with him?!” Jin yelled as Riyo stared at him

“You stalked me?” Riyo asked

“I don’t need to if you flaunt it out in daylight. Don’t you forget you’re my girlfriend MY GIRLFRIEND!” Jin yelled as he got aggressive as he slap her

Before Riyo could say another word Jin ripped open her blouse as he tried to force himself on her.

The nightmare is beginning all over again she tries to push him off but he was to strong for her. She reach over the nightstand as she grab the clock hitting him on the head as he got up holding his wound. He looked up at her,

“Bitch you hit me?” Jin asked angrily as she got off the bed in hurry and ran out the door. Holding her blouse together she continues to run downstairs. She fell down the steps as she landed on the bottom ground. She pushed herself up as she heard footsteps running down from distance. She ran out the gate and bump into a figure, who grab onto her.

“Riyo is everything okay?” Jung Min asked as he noticed her face wet and her blouse ripped. “Don’t tell me that bastard did that?” Jung Min asked but Riyo didn’t answer as she lean toward him as she cried. Jung Min held her tightly as she continues to cry.

“Let’s go before he comes” she whispered as Jung Min nodded as he walked over to his car opening the door for her. He took off his jacket and put it on her buttoning it up. She got into the car as he speed off.

Once they enter his apartment she sat down on the couch as Jung Min then return with a blouse,

“Wasn’t this mine?” Riyo asked

“I kept all yourself since you disappear, I didn’t want to throw it out when you return and found it missing. All your stuff been here ever since” Jung Min said.

Riyo got up and took off her blouse and put on the new one while Jung Min went to the kitchen and return with a glass of water.

“Why were you there?” Riyo asked

“I was there because I got a phone call from Keiichiro saying Jin was drunk and was worry about your safe being so I drop by in case” Jung Min said

“Thank you” Riyo said as Jung Min looked at her,

“Did he slap you?” Jung Min asked as he noticed one of her cheeks was red

“I’m fine, don’t worry” she said covering it but Jung Min pulled her hand off as he looked at it.

He ran his finger across her cheek as his heart felt the pain.

“I’m sorry” he whispered as Riyo begin to tear up. She leans toward his shoulders as he held on to her.

He blames himself for what was happening; he shouldn’t let her out of his sight. He should have fought to keep her behind. It was his fought this happen. He held onto her tighter as she cried.

9:31 PM
