Chapter 22

“How the hell did he find us here?” Hyun Joong asked

“He’s Hideaki, whoever he wants to find, he finds it faster than regular PI” Toma said with a smirk.

“Still the same as always Toma, an ass” Hideaki said.

“So tell me, what is the great Hideaki doing out here?” Toma asked in a sarcastic tone

“Nah I’m just out here getting some fresh air. That is one stupidest question I ever heard from you Toma. I want to know why that bastard here is” Hideaki said

“Oh you mean my colleague Hyun Joong? He obviously didn’t listen to what I said and ran off here to stalk you and Kaiyo by the way how is my ex doing?” Toma asked

“Better than when she was with you” Hideaki said with a smirk as Toma glares at him.

“What you think she’s out here? You don’t trust her?” Hyun Joong asked as Hideaki look at him.

“More like you kidnap her and kept her but that’s not true since he’s here” Hideaki said

“What you’re saying I’m not capable of that? You know I can” Toma said angrily

“Oh I know you can but if you met the Kaiyo now we will see about that” Hideaki said.

“Sure let’s see what would she do when she sees me since I know she still have lingering feelings for me if not why didn’t she pick any of you two?” Toma said walking toward Hideaki who grab him by the shirt and both glare at each other,

“If you dare touch her, I will drive my gun down your throat” Hideaki said through his teeth as Toma smirk at him. Hideaki let go of Toma’s shirt and push him back. “I don’t know what you’re up to and I don’t fucking care if you dare get near Kaiyo or her family you will be dealing with me” Hideaki said as he turn around and left.

“Are you afraid of him?” Hyun Joong asked

“I work with him I know him. Why do you think I dated Kaiyo?” Toma asked.

“You dated her to piss him off?” Hyun Joong asked

“I knew from the beginning when we took her in he has feelings for her. The cold heart Hideaki who has no mercy on anybody fell for her” Toma said laughing.

“You really have to shove that in my face don’t you?” Hyun Joong asked as he glares at Toma.

“Let me tell you one thing, you don’t have what it takes to kill Hideaki. If I were you, the only way you can take him down is by taking down his two pillars, Kaiyo and this person name, Ryosuke. Only then he will fall” Toma said lighting up a cigarette.

“Then that’s literally impossible to do” Hyun Joong said as Toma look at him.

“Kaiyo is a hard target so if I were you, try to mess her up more or do you want me to do it?” Toma asked as Hyun Joong just walked to the car

“I can handle my own affairs” Hyun Joong said as he got into the car and drove off

Ryo walked into the house as he was on the cell phone, Hong Ki sitting in the living room sat there pretending to watch TV when he was actually eavesdropping on the phone

“It's getting late you should hang up” Ryo said as Hong Ki tries to figure out who is Ryo was talking to. “Bye babe” Ryo said as he hangs up as Hong Ki pretend to flip the channel.

“You do know I can see that you were eavesdropping and fake watching the TV right?” Ryo asked as Hong Ki look at him.

“Who were you talking too?” Hong Ki asked

“None of your business. If I tell you, you’re gonna use it in your little fantasy fic.” Ryo said laughing as Hong Ki glare at him.

“How do you know about that story?” Hong Ki asked

“I by accident click on it. You should somehow put a password on it because anybody can read it and let me tell you, seriously too much titanic for you” Ryo said trying not to laugh

“I’m telling you all it’s not TITANIC!!” Hong Ki yelled as Ryosuke walked downstairs holding his pillow

“It’s a replicate of titanic; I mean half the fic is similar to it just flip around. If you want it not to be like titanic add more stuff in it or create something more creative than a damn ship” Ryosuke said as he sat down on the couch

“What? You all don’t think I can’t come up with something more creative?” Hong Ki asked looking at the two sitting in front of him. They both nodded their heads at the same time.

“Watch me I can create something more well than titanic! Titanic isn’t the only best romance movie ever” Hong Ki declare as both Ryo and Ryosuke sat there laughing

“Okay we will open our eyes to see that” Ryosuke said trying not to laugh so much

“When will that be Mr. Writer?” Ryo asked

“I will be a famous author soon watch me I’m going to be that twilight book” Hong Ki said storming off.

“Where we too mean toward him?” Ryosuke asked

“Well its better for him to learn the hard way from us than from those readers beside I don’t want him to be sue for plagiarizing titanic” Ryo said getting up. “You should sleep or else Kaiyo will find out you’re skipping your curfew” Ryo said patting his head as he left.

Hong Ki walked into the other living room and turn on the computer about 10 minutes pass and he was staring at a blank document in front of him.

“This is not what I intended come on brain think!” Hong Ki said banging his head. “Hm… our lives now can be a story I mean Kaiyo and Hideaki love life seems interesting on and off…plus Ryosuke is their child but yet nobody believes me… I need to find more proof to make this story work” Hong Ki said smiling evilly to himself.

“And the other love lives are really pretty much screw up I should totally work on theirs and mines…what else should I add in there?” Hong Ki asked himself as he begins typing ideas down. “Oh maybe they all have secrets! Agents? Nahh… Assassins? Sounds cool I like!” Hong Ki said.

20 minutes later Ryosuke open his eyes due to the music downstairs. He walked down and noticed Hong Ki asleep at the computer table. He walked over and looks at what was on the computer screen. He looks down at Hong Ki and shook his head lightly,

“Being in a one-sided love triangle thingy is complicated, maybe it’s better off if you get it off your chest” Ryosuke said as he pick up Hong Ki’s cell phone and wrote down a phone number and close it. “Maybe it’s best if I help a bit” Ryosuke said as he walks off

The next morning Kaiyo looks out the window as she ignores the two guys in the back arguing.

“I brought this bag of chips yesterday and you’re eating it” Aiba said as Seungho ignore Aiba and continue to put it in his mouth. “You owe me 2.50”

“Well you ate my box of cookies so there we are even” Seungho said jumping on the couch

“I didn’t eat your cookies you did!” Aiba said as he walked into Seungho’s room and came back out with the empty box of cookies.

“I so did not you planted that in my room your evil!” Seungho said.
“This is like exactly at home between Ryo, Chou and Hong Ki” Kaiyo said rubbing her head.

“Look you’re giving Kaiyo a headache already” Aiba said as he pointed toward Kaiyo and Seungho look while Aiba grab the bag of chips. “Loser” Aiba said as Seungho tackle him down on the ground to get the bag of chips back.

“Aren’t you two supposed to go to work?” Kaiyo asked

“It’s our day off. Weird how we both got the same day” Seungho said as he grab the bag back as Aiba laid on the floor

“My goodness how much do you weigh?” Aiba said sitting up

“Not that heavy” Seungho said smiling as he shoves more chips into his mouth.

“Anyways, I’m going to go out do you two want to go with me?” Kaiyo asked as she grabs her jacket.

“Sure been a while we even talk a walk” Aiba said as he grab his jacket and scarf, “how about you fatty?” Aiba asked as Seungho glare at him.

“Don’t you ever call me fatty or else I will sit on you again” Seungho said washing his hand and grab his jacket. “Usually they have good food for sample today at the market so I’m going” Seungho said as they left the place.

As they were walking, Aiba showed Kaiyo some places as Seungho was eating his food behind them. They stop at a stall while Kaiyo excused herself and walked toward the phone store.

“Here you go, I transfer whatever that was in the phone for you” the guy said as Kaiyo scan through it. She paid the guy and walked out the store. She opens the manual trying to read how to work the phone as she bumps into a figure that was walking toward her.

“Sor…ry” Kaiyo said as she look at the figure in front of her.

“I been looking for you and you’re here” Hideaki said as Kaiyo slowly back down.

“Well you see…”

“See what? Where were you? Do you know how worry I was? Do you even know how to use a phone to call me? If something were to happen how can I find you?!?!” Hideaki asked in a strict tone as she stood there figuring out what to say next. She then crouch down and begin sniffling. Hideaki bend down as he reaches out toward her, she looked up at him and smiled and the next he knows she pushed him on the ground.

“Sorry” she said as she ran off while Hideaki got up

“Damn always why do I fall for that act all the time” he mumbles as he ran after her.

While running she turn around and noticed he was gaining up on her as she ran into the crowd and disappears. When the crowd moved apart she was nowhere to be found, “Damn it” Hideaki mumbled as he ran straight while Kaiyo who was hiding behind a mannequin walked out.

“That was close not ready to think about what to do with him yet. He knows where I am now…he will find me gotta leave before he does” Kaiyo mumbled as she ran the other direction.

While walking back toward the apartment, she noticed a figure following her. She walked fast and turns the corner. She climb onto the balcony that was on top of her as she ran toward the other side and jump down. Pulling out a knife in her boots she held it behind her back.

The figure behind her approach the corner but saw nobody. Kaiyo slowly approach the figure moving the knife toward the figure,

“She’s getting good” he mumbled as he heard a click from behind him as he felt a cold sharp knife at his throat

“Who are you and why did you follow me?” Kaiyo asked as the figure turn around.

Kaiyo eyes widen as the figure in front of her smile, “Miss me?” Toma asked as she drops her knife

Hideaki looked around as he noticed the trail went cold. “Damn this girl is getting too good, should never train her that well,” he mumbled

“Hideaki?” a familiar voice said as Hideaki turn around.

“Why are you here?” Hideaki asked as he looks at the figure standing in front of him holding two cups of coffee.

“I should be asking you that question” the figure said.

“You do know you’re suppose to lay low key not running around” Hideaki said as the figure smile.

“Don’t you remember I’m dead supposedly” he said

“So what was your name again?” Hideaki asked jokingly

“Aiba you idiot” Aiba said laughing as Hideaki smiled

“How’s life?” Hideaki asked.

“Better now that I am living a life with no blood in it” Aiba said as they walked toward the bench where Seungho was feeding birds his bread.

“I didn’t know Seungho knows how to share” Aiba said as Seungho look at him.

“Hideaki-kun!” Seungho said as he ran toward them. “Want some bread?” Seungho asked as Hideaki shook his head.

“When did you begin to share?” Aiba asked as Seungho ignore him and took his cup of coffee.

“Hey that’s mine” Aiba said as Seungho took a sip of it

“Oh my bad here” Seungho said shoving the coffee in front of Aiba’s face,

“You keep that cup your germs is all over it unsanitary. Didn’t you learn that in waiter class?” Aiba asked as Seungho glare at him.

“So how’s your new life treating you both?” Hideaki asked as they sat down at the bench

“Life is good, better than before” Seungho said

“By the way, thanks for covering up after our trail” Aiba said.

“We’re friends beside I know you all don’t want to do this for the rest of your life. Better to get out of it before regretting right?” Hideaki asked.

FLASHBACK

“Aiba, you do know what are you doing right?” Hideaki asked as Aiba placed his items into the backpack.

“I done this a million time, I’m the bomb expert I won’t go killing myself” Aiba said, “Beside Seungho is with me, he’s a good shooter, so he can watch out for my back” Aiba said as Hideaki nodded his head.

“Just be careful, this mission is more dangerous compare to the others” Hideaki said as both of the guys got out of the car as Hideaki sat there waiting.

10 minutes passed but got no phone calls. 20 minutes passed, then 30.

Hideaki looked at his watch as he begins to worry and soon a loud explosion from distance as he got out from the car. No sign of them anywhere. He tries to call them but got no service. As he drove up to the scene he noticed firefighters, ambulance and police was at the area trying to put out the fire.

There he heard from the policemen there was several bodies in the building that was burnt beyond recognition. He noticed one of the policemen holding a small bag of evidence and inside was a watch he recognized.

He backed down and left the scene back into the car and speed off hoping what he saw wasn’t true. He drove back to the company as he walked into his boss room.

“So how did it go?” the man asked as Hideaki looked at him.

“You seemed like you cried my guess they failed didn’t they?” the man asked

“No they didn’t, they succeed but they had to pay the price” Hideaki said as he tries to calm his voice from trembling.

“Well it’s their own fault not ours. They died doing their jobs, all your jobs is to risk everything for a mission. If they complete it then everything is good a little sacrifice has to be done” the man said as Hideaki slams his hands on the table.

“They were your men and you don’t care about them?” Hideaki asked in an angry tone

“In this business, ones that care get kill first. They know the risk when they took this job not my fault so it’s not my business to care and you should just move on. I will assign somebody else to your team so you don’t have to worry. If that’s all you can leave” the man said as Hideaki glare at the man he used to consider as a dad figure.

“You know, now that they are dead, I’m happy. They can be free from this hellhole” Hideaki said leaving the room slamming the door.

A few days later, Hideaki went to the morgue to identify the bodies claiming they were his friends that work in the building. After giving them a funeral, he decided to take a walk at nighttime; he sat at the park on the swing set.

“You can come out now you know” Hideaki said out loud as two figures sat next to him on the swing.

“How did you know we’re alive?” Aiba asked.

“The bodies in the morgue weren’t yours” Hideaki said.

“How did you know, we cover our tracks pretty well” Seungho said

“I know you two half of my lifetime” Hideaki said.

“Do you want to take us back to the company then?” Seungho asked

“I just want to confirm my instinct that’s all. Knowing both of you are alive that’s a relief. Hideaki said.

“Sorry to make you worry. We both decided that we’re tired of this life. We just want a normal life, and this is the only way” Aiba said.

“I get it, I’m glad you two can escape this fate” Hideaki patting his friend on the shoulder. “And to help you two starts a new life, I brought you two this. Somehow I know you will have trouble getting these” Hideaki said handing Aiba an envelope as he open it.

“You got us fake identities?” Seungho asked

“Well they aren’t totally fake… only your last name, date of birth and stuff are all fake but your first name is still the same” Hideaki said.

“How did you manage to pull this off?” Aiba asked as they look at the paperwork and identification card.

“Let’s just say I know some people that work these type of stuff and its real stuff too” Hideaki said.

“So you have peoples working in the government place…damn your good” Seungho said, “But I look fat in this picture” Seungho said showing the card.

“You didn’t know picture adds pound to your face you’re lucky it’s not that big yet” Aiba said as Seungho push the swing

“Any plans where you guys are heading yet?” Hideaki asked

“Not sure we’re leaving on the train tomorrow whatever ticket is available we will take and we will see where it lead us too” Aiba said.

“Well then hope you two start a new better life” Hideaki said as he hugs both of them. He walked off into the darkness as they watch him disappear.

“Do you think he will ever change?” Seungho asked

“That is hard to tell. He never loved anybody nor really cares for anybody. Never seen girls around him…somehow…” Aiba stop as Seungho look at him.

“You think he’s gay seriously?” Seungho asked

“I mean no girls around him or nobody calls him I mean look on your cell you got a few girl numbers” Aiba said

“True but I don’t often call them well I text since it’s ‘keep in touch’ sort of thing” Seungho said

“Sure…” Aiba said as they walk off.

The next day they were at the train station as they were buying their tickets.

“Looks like we are heading to… Hokkaido” Aiba said handing Seungho his ticket.

“I wonder how far the trip is.” Seungho asked

“Probably more than 16 hours but hey new life here” Aiba said as Seungho look at the clock on the wall then around. “He’s probably not going to come. We are dead, and he might have people stalking him since that ex-boss of ours is paranoid probably sent somebody to stalk Hideaki-kun” Aiba said

“No it’s not that…never mind I doubt that person is going to come anyways” Seungho said.

The intercom went on as she announces the train will be leaving soon, Aiba and Seungho grab their bags and head toward the train when they felt something tugging on their shirt. They look down to see a boy holding a manila envelope.

“May we help you?” Seungho asked

“A man asked me to give this to you two” the boy said handing the thick envelope to Aiba.

“Where is that man?” Aiba asked

“Don’t know he gave me 50 bucks” the boy said smiling as he ran off.

Aiba open up the envelope as Seungho eyes widen,

“It got to be more than thousands in here” Seungho said covering his mouth, “Oh look a note” Seungho said as Aiba look at it,

“My last gift you to, use it wisely meaning you do not spend it all on food Seungho.” Aiba said as they look around knowing who it was from but saw nobody.

“This is the last call for train 4265810 to Hokkaido will be leaving in 5 minutes please if you have not proceed on the train do so” the intercom said as Aiba put the money into his bag.

He patted Seungho’s shoulder and both begin walking toward the platform. They stop and turn around seeing a figure wearing sunglasses standing from distance. The figure smile and begin to depart the opposite direction, he then wave goodbye walking away till he disappear from the crowd

“Is it wrong for us to leave him like that? I mean he always been there for us and took care of us.” Seungho said.

“To him, life is worthless. Nothing will change his mind about leaving this job. To him it’s his identity, his life, unless there is a miracle that happens and maybe that will change his mind on this job other than that, we got to do what we got to do” Aiba said.

“Hopefully he gets that miracle because life is more than death” Seungho said as they both got onto the train. 10 minutes later the train took off as Hideaki stood at the corner watching it leave,

“Good luck with your new life” he whispered

END OF FLASHBACK

“You do know that if the boss found out you helped us, you could die right?” Aiba asked

“Well he won’t find out since he’s dead” Hideaki said

“How is that?” Seungho asked

“Somebody killed him and looks like an inside job but no evidence since they ruled it a suicide” Hideaki said.

“That means you’re in charge now?” Aiba asked.

“Well technically yes but I’m thinking of retiring” Hideaki said.

“The cold hearted Hideaki wants to retire? That’s something new” Seungho said laughing.

“Seriously, what changed your mind? Didn’t you proclaim that you will die single and alone?” Aiba asked as Seungho tried not to laugh with Aiba.

“Ha, ha, ha funny anyways, you can say I met somebody that change my view of life.” Hideaki said

“Somebody eh? That would mean wedding bells I assume?” Aiba asked

“You never should assume because you will make an ass out of you and me” Seungho said proudly

“Dude, stop reading that quote calendar” Aiba said, “and that doesn’t make sense” he fussed

“Well wedding bells not really if she tries to runaway every time she sees me. I mean she’s all nice and warm with me one day and all cold and running away the next” Hideaki said.

“It makes sense, like this…” Seungho starts writing it out on the napkin, “you make an ‘ass’ out of ‘you’ and ‘me’. See it makes sense” Seungho said pointing to the words

“Yay for you and you quotes” Aiba said rolling his eyes as Seungho tries to smack him. “Anyways, who’s this person that actually changed our cold blooded Hideaki?” Aiba asked.

Hideaki took out his cellphone and showed them a picture of Kaiyo and Ryosuke as their eyes pop open wide.

“That’s!!!!!” Before Seungho can finish Aiba knocked down the cup of coffee onto Seungho as he jumped up screaming.

“See what happens when you don’t hold your cup correctly?!” Aiba fussed as Seungho continues to jump up and down screaming from the hot coffee on his pants

“Yah! It’s not my fault! She’s….she’s” Seungho said repeatedly over and over while jumping as Aiba covers his mouth.

“We will be right back” Aiba said as he drags Seungho off when they were distance away from Hideaki, Aiba smack Seungho on the back of his head

“Are you crazy, you forgot what she said, she’s still confused” Aiba fussed

“So he’s the one she’s confused with but her seriously? The one that change our Hideaki is her?” Seungho asked

“I guess she’s a good cook and cleans up maybe that’s why…”Aiba said

“Or he got her knocked up cause that other boy in the photo looks like him” Seungho said.

“Maybe…” Aiba said as they stood there thinking. “By the way don’t you feel hot?” Aiba asked as Seungho then remember the pain of the coffee on his legs. “You seriously need to go home and change because it looks like you used the bathroom on yourself” Aiba said laughing.

“You’re going to pay watch me, you don’t know when or how you will” Seungho said running off

Chou sat at the cashier as she watches people walk in and out,

“Are you okay?” Ryosuke asked

“Why is that?” Chou asked

“Because you were making a lot of mistaken the whole morning, giving the wrong coffee to customers, burning pastries, overflowing the machine and giving wrong change to customers!” Ryosuke fussed

“You’re like your mo..I mean sister” Chou said as Ryosuke looked at her.

“She’s not here and she put me in charge so of course I have to do a good job. Beside its late for me to start school so I have to do something” Ryosuke said as he sat behind the counter with Chou. “So tell me what’s bothering you” he asked

“I’m not telling a 16 year old if that’s your real age about my love life” Chou said

“Okay, you got other options like me or Ryo who will say negative things or Hong Ki who will probably put it in his fic or Riyo who disappear lately” Ryosuke said

“Fine, Yesung express his feelings for me” Chou said

“That’s all?” Ryosuke asked

“Yeah that’s all I mean he just burst out telling me he loves me when we barely knew each other at least a month or two” Chou said

“If a guy or a girl told me they love me, I would be happy, why are you confused?” Ryosuke asked

“He dumped his fiancée in front of TV and they still talk about it, I’m not going to be the new talk of the town that he dump her for me in which I don’t want to be compare with” Chou said crumbling up a piece of paper

“Wow that is tough…but then again do you loves him like he loves you?” Ryosuke asked as Chou just let out a long sigh

“What did you do when he told you that he loves you?” Ryosuke asked

“Beside panic…I ran” Chou said

“Wow just wow, you ran? Great he’s gonna so question himself about your love for him” Ryosuke shaking his head.

Then a man walked into the café as he held a bouquet of red roses,

“Are you Ms. Chou?” he asked

“Yes…” she said slowly

“These are for you” he said as he handed her the bouquet and left.

“There’s a card” Ryosuke said as he snatches the card before Chou got it,

“No matter what happens or how you react, I just want you to know I still love you
– Yesung”

“Awwwww he still loves you” Ryosuke said as Chou snatch it back and walked away. “So Hong Ki having fun listening to the conversation from distance?” Ryosuke asked as he walked toward the booth where Hong Ki was typing on the laptop

“Now I know why I can read people’s mouth it comes in handy during situation like this” Hong Ki said. “I have a question”

“What?”

“Are you sure you’re really…16?” Hong Ki asked

“Yes I am”

“And that you never saw your parent before?”

“They died when I was a child and neechan doesn’t have any photos of them and you’re an odd person” Ryosuke said looking at Hong Ki weirdly

“Just making sure that’s all” Hong Ki said as Ryosuke walked off helping other customers. “Oh for sure they are you’re parent and you’re not 16” Hong Ki said to himself as 5 year old girl standing there looked at him holding an ice cream cup.

“You’re creepy mister” she said walking off

“I’m so not! Talking to myself isn’t creepy it’s normal!” Hong Ki yelled as customers look at him as he looks down at his laptop “now that wasn’t normal”

At the police station Jin was sitting at his desk reading through files as he kept searching on the computer hoping to find some lead on Rika but it lead to nowhere. He smack his computer screen as he lean back on the chair.

“The only lead is that damn bastard but he’s not going to say anything. Rika can’t be dead. She can’t be” Jin said to himself as he stood and look out the window. There was a knock on his door as Keiichiro walked in.

“I heard you were researching on Shirota Yuu case is that true?” Keiichiro asked

“Yeah I believe he was involved in a long lost friend case” Jin said as he walks toward the door, “Why do you ask?”

“I wanted to tell you before you hear it from others” Keiichiro said as Jin looks at him, “…That Shirota Yuu’s case is being reopened and most likely he will be free man.”

“What?” Jin asked in an angry tone.

“Shirota Yuu may be a free man soon” Keiichiro repeated as Jin stare at him with the worry look on his face.

Yuu looks outside the window as he watches the birds fly by in the sky. He reaches out toward it,

“I will be free soon, free like you all and then I can reunite with her” he said as he walked toward his table. He looked at the hourglass as he flips it over and watches the sand begin to drop.

“Wait for me”

Riyo staring outside the window as she watches the birds fly by. She walked over to her table as she open the bottle of sleeping pills and took some. She lay on her bed as she stares at the ceiling. Lately only medicine can give her some sleep.

As her eyes slowly closed, images of her past begin to replay itself again.

Everything all happen because of him, because of him she’s like this. Because of him, everything around her collapse her world fell apart.

Because of him, she’s a killer…
