Chapter 21

Hyun Joong look up to the shadow standing in front of him with a smile but it slowly disappear as he noticed who was standing in front of him.

“Sir, your dinner is ready do you want us to bring it out now?” the waiter asked as Hyun Joong look at his clock.

“It’s 8:10, she chose already” Hyun Joong said as his grip on his phone tightens. He grabs the glass of wine and gulps it down.

Hideaki look at his watch, it past more than 20 minutes. He tried calling Kaiyo on her cell phone but got no replied only her voicemail. He ordered another drink hoping that she didn’t chose Hyun Joong over him

Kaiyo opened her eyes and look around and noticed everything around her was white.

“Omg I’m dead?” she mumbled to herself as she sat up and noticed a guy walking in.
“You’re awake, finally I thought your injuries was more serious than the doctor said”

“You’re the guy on that bike that slammed into me right?” Kaiyo asked

“Yeah sorry about that, my bike went out of control when it slipped on the ice and I slam into you.” He said handing her a cup of water

“Well you’re also injured too, I guess that’s even” Kaiyo said as she gulps down the water

“I think your phone is dead too, it won’t turn on” he said handing her the phone

“Oh well, I get a new one sooner or later thanks for giving it a trip though” Kaiyo said with a smile

“I’m Masaki Aiba, he said with a smile”

“I’m Sasaki Kaiyo” she said shaking his hand.

“The doctor said you hit your head lightly but no damage, only a scrape on your elbow and you probably might twisted your ankle, other than that you’re good to go tomorrow morning” Aiba said

“Thanks.”

“Well I did bump into you so I do hope you get better” Aiba said as he looks at his watch. “I have to go, I have more deliveries to do, and I see you again tomorrow” Aiba said leaving the room.

As he left the room, Kaiyo laid back on the pillow and look up at the ceiling. “Where have I seen him before? I wonder if bumping into him right before going to the restaurant meant something.” Kaiyo asked herself as she closed her eyes and went to sleep

The restaurant was closing; it was his 200th time calling her on his cell phone but got nothing. Hideaki paid for the evening as he walks toward the door, another figure reach out for the door the same time as him. Hideaki glare at the figure next to him as the figure look back.

“You should be happy she chose you” Hideaki said as he slams the door open leaving the restaurant.

“She never even came you ass” Hyun Joong said as Hideaki stop and turn around and look at him.

“What?”

“She never even appeared tonight at all. I thought she chose to be with you. I guess I was wrong or should I say we’re both wrong” Hyun Joong said with a smirk
“She’s probably at the hotel waiting for me. If you’ll excuse me, I have a life to attend to” Hideaki said leaving Hyun Joong standing there when his cell phone rang.

He took a look at it and opens it,

“What do you want?” he asked in a tone

“Where are you at?” the voice asked

“None of your business I want to be wherever I want” Hyun Joong said.

“Don’t you get your attitude on me, I’m your leader. Anyways meet me at the park in 20 minutes” the voice said as he hangs up before Hyun Joong said anything else

“Damn bastard” Hyun Joong mumbled as he threw the cigarette on the floor and step on it. He got into the car and speed off in the darkness.

Hideaki ran back into the room and noticed it was empty; he took a look around and noticed everything was in place and nothing was out of order. He sat on the bed and look at his phone, no replies or calls back.

“Where is she” he mumbled as he lay on the bed. And then he sat straight up, "That bastard..." he got off the bed and ran out of the hotel.

Ryosuke walk into the room as Hong Ki sat there typing on the computer.

“What is with the titanic music?”

“Getting into the mood. What else?”

“The mood for what? A sinking ship?” Ryosuke asked as he approaches Hong Ki.

“Yes”

“What on earth are you writing?” Ryosuke asked.

“You won’t understand it’s an adult thing” Hong Ki said as he continues to type one letter at a time on the keyboard.

“All I know is by the time the titanic sink you’re not done with one sentence” Ryosuke said trying not to laugh at Hong Ki slowness.

“Whatever you’re just jealous of my writing” Hong Ki said as Ryosuke snatch the paper from the printer.

“Please do not tell me you’re gonna make a book” Ryosuke said as Hong Ki ignore him and continue typing.

“Seriously you’re on the titanic? That ship is older than you!”

“It’s my imagination okay”

“Yeah and I suppose this handsome, rich fellow name Henry is you” Ryosuke said as Hong Ki glare at him.

“And the poor, servant girl name Leandra…please do not tell me it’s you know who” Ryosuke asked.

“A writer will not give his secret away”

“You have a crush on that lady cop of course you added her in the fic” Ryosuke said

“I do not it’s not her!” Hong Ki defended himself

“Yeah it’s easy to know you know. It’s written on your face” Ryosuke said

“Whatever, leave me alone, I need to write this part” as Hong Ki tries to push Ryosuke away and he grab a few printed paper from the printer

“This is basically the movie Titanic just flips the other way!” Ryosuke exclaimed

“Its not! In the movie they had an unhappy ending, I’m making mines a happy ending!” Hong Ki said

“That’s a typical TVB drama” Ryosuke said

“You watch HK dramas?” Hong Ki asked

“Occasionally, if they have English subs” Ryosuke said

“Well it’s my story and I want a happy ending” Hong Ki said

“Whatever, by the way, here, here and here is all spelled wrong and have the wrong information” Ryosuke said pointing out on the paper and hand it to Hong Ki

“That is impossible! I look up my info”

“Well you’re source is wrong” Ryosuke said

“You’re such a meanie” Hong Ki said

“Well I’m just saying the truth you know, but have you thought about your life at all?” Ryosuke asked

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, she does have a boyfriend and you like her”

“She’s not married yet”

“I know its all fair game but have you thought about her feelings?” Ryosuke asked

“She doesn’t know I like her so basically it’s me who’s going to get hurt not her” Hong Ki replied

“You’re my friend; I don’t want to see you get hurt. Think about it, she’s a cop, you’re…a…bad guy” Ryosuke said trying to make out the right word

“I’m not totally bad, just got caught doing some bad stuff” Hong Ki reminded him

“Whatever but still…think about it, maybe it’s not really meant to be? You and her play cat and mouse half the time, the longer you like her, the longer you will fall into the hole and harder to get out. I don’t want to be the bad guy and discourage you and all but seeing you like this is hard.” Ryosuke said as Hong Ki didn’t reply but just stare at the computer screen

“It’s your life; I shouldn’t bother you with it, but think about it”

Ryosuke patted him on the shoulder and left.

“Is loving one side that painful?” Hong Ki asked himself as he lean back on the chair.

Riyo walk back into her room as she sat the edge of her bed covering her face, “Why am I doubting my love for Jin? He’s the one I been trying to find for years but yet I feel like he’s not really the one I want to be with. When he told me that he was looking for me, I couldn’t help but want to smile but yet I realized he stop looking for the real me because of dead ends….if it was Jung Min would he given up too?”

Riyo couldn’t help taking out Jin and compare him with Jung Min. Both guys she once loved and couldn’t decide to choose. She did choose to be with Jin when Jung Min decided to leave but couldn’t help doubt the choice. The reason why she left Jung Min because he was a cop and she was a bad guy. When he got shot the same time as he, he claims it was because of him, but she knows really it was her fault.

She only wanted to protect him from getting harm, even when it means to be selfish toward Jin. She never stops to think that the people after could go after him too, but in her mind all she just want to do is protect Jung Min. He got harm once because of her, and she’s not going to risk it again.

She looks up at her dresser mirror and notices a handcuff hanging from it. She smile to herself as she remember the history behind it,

[Flashback]

Riyo was walking down the street when she suddenly stop. Jung Min was on the other side as he locks his car and ran into the store. A smile appear across her face as she ran toward the car,

“Let’s see if I still remember how to break into a car” Riyo said to herself as she took out a paper clip and unbend it. She stuck it into his car and within a few twist and turn the car lock pop up.

“You’re a cop and yet you didn’t put an alarm in your car” Riyo laugh to herself as she sat in the car. “How to hot wire it…totally didn’t pay attention when Hideaki and Kaiyo was teaching me” Riyo said as she bent down and found two wires. She attach them together when the engine started

“Haha I’m so good” Riyo said to herself and didn’t noticed another presence next to hers’

“You know you got some guts breaking into a police car” Jung Min said as she look up.

“Oh you’re back.” Riyo said with a smile

“Yes I am and it’s so nice to see you again” Jung Min said with a smile

“Haha yes it is, oh look a parade!” Riyo said out loud pointing behind Jung Min as he turns around to look. She took the opportunity to run as Jung Min roll his eyes,

“Why did I fall for that stupid trick” he mumbles as he ran after her.

She took a glance back and noticed he was running after her and is gaining up on her. As she ran she screams as he continues to run after her. He finally caught up to her, he grab her wrist as she stops. He twirls her around as she they stood face to face.

“Bravo Sir Park, you caught me what are you going to do to me now? Take me to jail?” Riyo asked

“Sure why not” Jung Min said as he snaps on his handcuff on one of her wrist
“You’re seriously?!” She asked

“Do you think I’m playing around?” he asked “But in case you runaway…” he snaps the other end of the handcuff on his wrist. “This will prevent you from running away” Jung Min said

“You’re not serious are you?! How am I going to go to the bathroom?” Riyo asked

“We will figure something then but for now, you’re a criminal for breaking into my car” Jung Min said

“You better let me go or else I’ll scream” Riyo warn

“Scream for what? You started it first. And you slam cake onto my new shoes” Jung Min said.

“Well you had it coming! Who told you to steal my chocolate cake first!” Riyo yelled

“First come first serve” Jung Min said

“I hate you” Riyo said

“Good because you’re not getting this key at all” Jung Min said dangling the keys in front of her. She tries to snatch it but he keeps on moving it around. She got mad and push him onto the floor as she was on top of him trying to grab the key. But unfortunately the key slip out of his hand and fell into the sewer

“Look what you did!” she yelled hitting his chest as he look at her. “WHAT?!”

“You’re on top of me” Jung Min said

“Yeah so?”

“People are looking at us” Jung Min said as she turns around and noticed people looking at her and him on the floor

“Great they think we’re animals doing out in the street now” Riyo mumbled

“Hey you were the one that push me down” Jung Min said as they got up.

“Well you started the handcuffing first!” Riyo yelled

“Who told you to break into my car then?!” Jung Min asked as they glare at each other

“Do you have another key to unlock me?” She asked

“No I do not and if I do it’s at the station” Jung Min said

“Then let’s go back to the station to get it” Riyo said

“Hell no and let my subordinate see me like this? Haha I don’t think so” Jung Min said shaking his hand with the cuff on.

“I’m don’t want to be seen attach to you all day! I have work!” Riyo fussed

“Well it looks like both of us have no choice but to request a day off” Jung Min said as Riyo glare at him. At the same time, they both tried to reach for their cell phone but the handcuff on their hand didn’t allow them to. Then they begin to pull back and forth until both their wrist was red.

“I’m tired I give up” Jung Min said as Riyo smirk,

“This is what happen when you mess with me” Riyo said as Jung Min begins to drag her.

“Where are we going?!” Riyo asked yelling as she tries to pull back

“I’m going to find something to eat” Jung Min said as Riyo followed behind him

They stop in front of a cart as Riyo gave him a disgusting look,

“You’re a cop, you eat here seriously?” Riyo asked

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s unhealthy, it has a lot of oil and you can get a heart attack and die” Riyo said pointing to the food he was holding from his mouth

“Well if I die then you should be happy” Jung Min said as Riyo smile

“Oh yeah that’s good, go ahead eat more and drop dead” Riyo said as Jung Min stop and paid for the food. They walked off as people on the street look at them.

“Great now everybody thinks we’re weird” Jung Min mumbled

“ Nahhh more like you’re a kidnapper” Riyo said as Jung Min glare at her and drags toward a different direction

“Hey where are we going!” Riyo yelled as she tries to catch up

“I’m going to my apartment to chop this thing off” Jung Min said as he drags her up to his apartment

Once they got inside they went into the kitchen as Jung Min fumble around looking for his toolbox under the sink. He found a saw as he place both their hands on the kitchen table and tried to saw through it

“What kind of handcuffs are these?!” Riyo asked

“Police type” Jung Min said as he place the saw down and gave up. “I give up seriously” Jung Min said as he sat on the couch as Riyo sat next to him

“There, there if we can’t get it off you can be with me forever” Riyo said smirking at him as he looks at her

“Sure, I don’t mind that” Jung Min said as he got close to her face as she back away

“I was kidding” Riyo said as she grab the remote control. “Are we seriously going to stay in here all day?”

“Hiro will be home in another 6 hours so just sit here and watch TV” Jung Min said as Riyo glare at him and both sat there silently as time went by.

As Kaiyo open her eyes she sat up and noticed it was already morning “Good morning Ms. Kaiyo, are you ready to go home today?” the nurse asked

“Of course, who wants to stay in the hospital” Kaiyo said as a figure appear at the door.

“Hey you’re up that’s good” Aiba said giving her a thumbs up. “I’ll go outside and do your paperwork” he said as he left the room.

“Well for a guy who cause you to be in the hospital he sure is very… chirpy? “Well you’re all set to go, your clothes that you came in last night is folded and in the cabinet” she said leaving as Kaiyo got up and limp over to the cabinet. She then changed and got off the elevator and look around for Aiba

He finished signing the paper and got the bag of medicine when he turn to look at Kaiyo who was looking around for him.

“I swear I seen her somewhere but cannot remember where” Aiba said to himself as he approach Kaiyo “Here is the medicine he said to take” he handed her a bag.

“How much do I owe you?” Kaiyo asked as they walk outside of the hospital,

“It’s okay, it was my fault you’re here in the first place” Aiba said, “I have to go home now, take care” Aiba said as he walked away as Kaiyo stood there not knowing what to do. She knows she doesn’t want to go back to the hotel and see both Hideaki and Hyun Joong there. Aiba turns around as he noticed Kaiyo still standing there.

“Is something wrong?” he asked

“I don’t want to go home” Kaiyo said

“Why?” he asked

“I’m having some issue I don’t know how to resolve. I just don’t want to face it yet” Kaiyo said as Aiba walk up to her.

“How about this, come back to my place and get yourself warm down and you can stay there till you’re ready to go home how about that?” Aiba asked

“Are you sure? I mean like if your girlfriend sees me…” Kaiyo said as Aiba laugh,

“I’m still single, nobody wants to date a poor, delivery guy. The only person in the house beside me is my buddy who is probably at work now” Aiba said

“You’re a nice guy, you will find somebody and you sure your buddy don’t mind?” Kaiyo asked

“He probably be thrill to see a girl in place” Aiba said laughing as she begins to walk next to Aiba a few blocks they arrive at an old apartment complex.

“Here we go, watch your steps” Aiba said as they walk up 2 flights of stairs and he open the door to the apartment. “Sorry if its messy” Aiba said as Kaiyo enters in

“Its clean for two guys” Kaiyo said sitting on the floor as Aiba poor her a glass of water and handed to her as she said thanks. She looks around as Aiba look at her,

“Is there something you want to asked?” Kaiyo asked looking at him

“I’m curious…where were you going. The way you’re dressing last night outfit, sort of telling me you were going to a date” Aiba said

“As a matter of fact, yes I was but I was hesitating” Kaiyo said

“Why?” Aiba asked

“There is something I cannot figure out why that is why I’m here” Kaiyo said

“Is it that he asked you to marry him?” Aiba asked with a smile

“That I won’t tell” she said with a smile as Aiba.

“I’m going to go take a quick shower since my next job is about to start. Feel free to do whatever you want. The bed is over there if you want to sleep” Aiba said as he walk toward the bathroom.

Kaiyo got up and took a look around the place as she took a quick look at the refrigerator and noticed nothing was in there. She look at the cabinet and noticed in the trash was a lot of instant noodles and fast food, “no wonder he’s skinny, and eating all these food” she said as she sat down turn on the TV when Aiba came out from the bathroom in a different outfit.

“Here is the key to my apartment if you need it” Aiba said handing it to her. “Oh here is my number in case” he said writing it down for her placing it on the table stand. “I have to go now, remember to take your medicine and get some rest. My friend will be home soon and I already text him you are here so he won’t freak out about a stranger in the house” Aiba said leaving the apartment

“Didn’t he work last night? How many jobs does this guy have?” Kaiyo wonder as she look at the key in her hand and the outfit she was wearing. “I should totally get some new outfits” Kaiyo said as she grab her purse and left the apartment.

She went into the clothing store and found some winter outfits and after changing into one pair of outfit and went to the cashier to pay, she look at the credit card she got from Hideaki, “If I use his cards here, he will know where I am better use my own” she said as she pulled out her own credit card and left the store with some clothing bags. She noticed a cell phone store and walked in,

“Hi, I was wondering if you can fix this phone for me” she asked as she handed the guy behind the counter her phone.

“Well maybe you should get a new one since this one looks broken beyond repair” he said looking at the phone.

“I really have a lot of important information stuff on there can you try” Kaiyo asked

“Well I can probably transfer the information to a new phone if I can get it working for a while” he said

“That’s great, I come back tomorrow” Kaiyo said leaving the place. She look at her watch, “I still have time to make dinner, I should head to buy some food now” she said as she runs off to the market.

While she was in the kitchen getting ready to make dinner she heard the door open as she went out to see who it was,

“Wow Aiba did not tell me that you are this pretty” the guy said putting the keys on the table.

“You must be Aiba’s buddy who lives here in which he never mention your name” Kaiyo said.

“Oh I’m Yoshida Seungho” he said shaking Kaiyo’s hand,

“I’m Sasaki Kaiyo” she said

“I’m going to go wash up and you can continue what you are doing” Seungho said as Kaiyo went back into the kitchen.

About half an hour later Seungho walked out and noticed a lot of dishes on the table,

“Man Aiba is good luck, he slam into a chef” Seungho said looking at the food,

“Its my treat as saying thank you for letting me stay here” Kaiyo said, “By the way what time does Aiba usually get home?” Kaiyo asked

“I think soon he usually get home like in 10 minutes” Seungho said and soon there was noises at the door and Aiba walked in,

“Did I walk into the right place?” he asked as Kaiyo stuck her head out from the kitchen,

“Welcome home” both Kaiyo and Seungho said as Aiba took off his shoes.

“Wow you cook all of this?” Aiba asked.

“And its really good too” Seungho said as he stuff some food in his mouth

“Maybe I got lucky and pick up an angel out in the street” Aiba said with a smile as he look at the food.

“That’s what I said!” Seungho said as he push Aiba who push him back.

“Well its like a thank you for helping me this whole time” Kaiyo said placing the last dish on the table. “Just go wash up and we can eat” Kaiyo said as Aiba walked off to the bathroom and a few minutes later he came out and sat on the ground as he look at the food

“Its been forever I ate a big meal like this” Aiba said.

“Then eat a lot.” Kaiyo said picking up the chopsticks

“Itadakimasu” three of them said as Kaiyo place food into his bowl while Aiba and Seungho was fighting for food

“You don’t look like you’re from around here” Aiba said eating

“I’m from Tokyo, here on vacation. How about you?” Kaiyo asked

“I was born in Tokyo but my family moved here and so I been here ever since” Aiba said

“This place is nice, peaceful compare to Tokyo which is noisy most of the time” Kaiyo said, “So how about you Seungho? You’re name sound Korean” Kaiyo asked

“Yeah I was born in Seoul but moved here and my mom got remarried and all that stuff so you when will you will be going home” Seungho asked

“Why do you asked?”

“If you stay here longer I get good food to eat than instant noodles” Seungho said with a smile as Aiba shove a chicken in his mouth

“What do you do for a living?” Aiba asked

“I own a café shop” Kaiyo said

“An owner I see, better than me” Aiba said

“What about you?”

“I work two jobs as you can see, daytime job delivery while nighttime a bartender” Aiba said

“What about you Seungho?” Kaiyo asked

“Me? Well I work as a waiter at a restaurant” Seungho said

“And yet you don’t get leftover for dinner?” Kaiyo asked

“Well you see…I eat a lot by the time I walk home the food is gone” Seungho said as Aiba choke on his food

“And you say you let the stray dogs eat it”

“Yeah the bones” Seungho said as he continue to pile up food in his bowl.

“What time are you leaving tonight?” Kaiyo asked

“Probably in another 2 hours” Aiba said

“Do you ever get any sleep?” Kaiyo asked

“Haha, I do but not much” Aiba said

“And yet you don’t have bags under your eyes and I do” Kaiyo said

“That’s because he does facial every night” Seungho said laughing as Aiba smack him as Seungho gave him the glare

“I been meaning to ask you this, its okay if you don’t want to answer.” Aiba said

“Shoot”

“I want to asked what are you really running away from” Aiba asked

“There is this guy I known for a while he wants to start a relationship with me, he has been there for me, protected me and always helped me when I needed him, he basically stayed single because of me for almost 5 years or more. Somehow I feel pressure to sometimes admit I actually like him. I agree to go on this trip with him to figure it out but then another guy appear who I also have a little crush on but I feel nothing no more and then there is an ex-boyfriend who is coming back and now my mind is all scramble” Kaiyo said as both guys look at her without blinking

“Wow a lot of complication, let me tell you something maybe it will help you” Aiba said. “From what I gather from you so far, the first guy, you actually do have something for him beside gratitude and stuff. You hesitated to accept his feeling in the first place because you’re forcing yourself to love him in which is putting a lot of pressure on yourself. And in your head you keep on thinking how to repay him instead of letting it go so its putting pressure on your mind. If you delete those and let it go with the flow maybe things can go easier for you. The other guy that you have a crush on, he’s like a third wheel you can say. He’s there like for decoration so don’t really bother about him delete him in your mind…as your ex-boyfriend, I would say ignore him cause he dump a perfect girl like you” Aiba said

“Well that makes sense.” Kaiyo said. “I should try to just stop thinking so hard and let it figure its way out that’s what you mean?”

“Something like that” Aiba said

“Thanks”

“If I were you, I go for the first guy I mean this guy stay single for you for like forever and probably later and he is there you know when you need somebody. I would want a guy like him heck I want to be him” Seungho said as Aiba rolled his eyes

“That is what happens when you watch too much dramas on your spare time” Aiba said as Seungho sat there mocking his friend.

“So now, you feel a bit less pressure?” Aiba asked

“Definitely” Kaiyo said

After finishing dinner and washing up they sat and watch TV for a while.
“Well I gotta get ready to go to the bar now” Aiba said as he got up to get change. About 15 minutes later he came out,

“Well since Seungho is here I don’t need to worry all you need to do is cook food for him and he will leave you alone” Aiba said as Seungho stuck his tongue at his friend. “You can sleep in my room till you’re ready to go home. I won’t be home till 5am so don’t wait up” Aiba said leaving

“We won’t!” Seungho said waving as he turn to Kaiyo,

“I’m hungry can you whip up something?” Seungho asked as Kaiyo look at him,

“You are one hungry monster exactly like the 3 little monsters I have at home” Kaiyo mumble

Riyo got off the bed as she went to wash her face, “Everything is in the past now, I need to move on” she whispered as her cell phone rang

She looks at the number and wonder, who it is,

“Hello?” she asked but no voice, “Hello is anybody on the other line?” Riyo asked again.

“Riyo?” the voice spoke up,

“Yuu-san?” Riyo asked “What’s wrong?” Riyo asked

“I just miss you” he said.

“Is everything okay?” she asked

“Nothing is wrong, I just want to hear your voice that’s all” Yuu said as her face look lost.

Before she can asked him anything else, the line went dead,

“What is that all about?” Riyo asked as she closed the phone.

Hyun Joong pulled his car as he noticed another car parked in the shadows. He got out of the car and walk toward the other car as a figure walked out.

“Took you long enough” he said

“What do you want?” Hyun Joong asked

“We have a mission to do” he said

“There is nobody here to kill since they are all pleasant people here” Hyun Joong said

“Not here, back in Tokyo. I feel like saying to you in person” he said

“What is it?”

“Our mission is this” He said handing Hyun Joong a folder

“He’s on murder charges how the hell can we get him out?” Hyun Joong asked

“That I already figure out. It happen over 7 years ago, things can happen you know” he said

“If you got it all under control why call me out?” Hyun Joong asked

“Because it’s not a one person job.” He said looking at his phone. “When the time comes, I will contact you and tell you everything” he said

“You just called me out to tell me this crap when you can say it over the phone?” Hyun Joong asked angrily

“Actually that is true but I want to meet an old friend” he said as Hyun Joong looks at him confusingly. “This old friend likes to follow people and you really suck at noticing somebody tailing you” he said

“Nobody was tailing me at all” Hyun Joong said glaring at the person in front of him as the figure threw the cigarette on the ground letting it burn out as the figure move pass Hyun Joong,

“Long time no see, Takizawa Hideaki” he said as another figure emerge from the shadow
