Chapter 12

“Fine I tell you where she is, but come a bit closer” Shirota said as Jin got closer to him as Shirota got near Jin’s ear,

“She’s dead…”

Shirota pulled back as Jin stare at him with disbelief.

“That’s not true.” Jin mumbled.

“You didn’t read through my files did you? I’m a psycho murderer.” Shirota said sitting down on the chair as Jin glares at him.

“I know that you’re a lunatic since that’s how I found you here. I never thought a person that grew up with him can be so cruel.”

“To be correct, we never grew up with each other, only for a few years and then you left. So technically you don’t know me at all” Shirota said as Jin grab him by his shirt and nailed him to the wall.

“Why did you kill her?” Jin asked as Shirota look at him,

“Because I wanted to, if I do recall, there’s not rule on who should I kill or not kill” Shirota said as he pushed Jin off from him but Jin punch him in the jaw letting him land onto the floor.

Shirota pushed himself up wiping the blood off his mouth,

“Still using violence…tsk, tsk a police officer like you should know better” Shirota said getting up as Jin landed him another punch.

“I don’t need to be a civilian officer in front of a murder like you” Jin said grabbing Shirota by the shirt pull him off the ground as he threw Shirota onto the table as he pin him down facing the table.

“Tell me again, where is Rika?!?”

“She’s dead, you can go through my thick files to read my confessions to confirm it” Shirota said as Jin pulled him off the table and slam him against the wall again.

“How come I did not find any confirmation on where she’s buried?” Jin asked as Shirota glare at him,

“I loved her so much so the things I love, I won’t let anybody have. You will never find her body” Shirota said as he laughed as Jin punches him in the stomach and kneed him in the stomach slamming his body onto the ground.

The police officers outside ran in pulling Jin away from Shirota as they pulled Shirota off the ground,

“You better be happy I’m not going to sue you for doing this to me” Shirota said as the police officer drags him off. “Nice meeting you again, my old friend” he said with leaving the room. His laughter could be heard from distance as Jin pulled himself together leaving the room.

Riyo got off her car as she walk toward the prison, “Better off staying home and stare at 4 walls why not visit oniichan, he’s probably bored without some new magazines to read” Riyo said looking into her bag. She suddenly stops as she saw a familiar figure walk out from the door.

“No way…”

Jin walked out the prison he pulled out a cigarette and inhales the air and let it out. He walked to his car as he kick the tire and let out a scream. A few minutes later he pulled himself together and got into the car and speed off. Riyo appeared out from the dark corner as she watches him drive away.

“What is he doing here?”

She then ran into the area and talk to the police officer who knew who she was. He led her into a different room where she noticed her oniichan was laying on the bed. She walks in quietly sitting down in the chair next to his bed.

“It has been a while I seen you” he whispered as she look at him.

“How did you know I was here?” Riyo asked.

“I can smell that same perfume you always wear” he said as she smiled.

“Shirota-kun what happen?” Riyo asked as she looks at him as he just smiles at her.

“Just a little dispute with the police officer, you don’t have to worry” Shirota said holding her hand,

“Why is it so cold?” Riyo asked as she felt his hands tighten up,

“Just cold in here so you don’t have to worry about me. So what have you brought?” Shirota asked as Riyo handed him a bag.

“Just the usual, hope you don’t get bored though” she said with a smile as Shirota smiled back.

“It’s really great to see you without that wall in between us. I’m really happy, I got to hold your hands again after so many years” Shirota said as Riyo just smiled as his hand tightens around hers’. “I really miss you”

Riyo looked at him not knowing what to say next, they just sat there in silence looking at each other.

About 15 minutes later, she excused herself and left while Shirota watches her leave. His hand clenches onto the bed sheet.

“You’re hiding something and I know it…you saw him…already and the love you bury for him that was gone is now appearing again…I won’t that happen…I just won’t” Shirota mumbled as his grip tighten and he stare at the door she walked out a while ago

At work Chou slam the stapler onto each paper and putting it aside. Yesung walked out and stop at her front desk,

“You know if you keep on treating the staplers like that, we have to order in a lot more to stop your anger” Yesung said with a smile as Chou glare at him. “The whole morning you have been throwing your anger out, what’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong? What’s wrong is why the hell you piled my desk with all these nonsense paperwork!” Chou yelled as Yesung step back. “I went on a sick leave not a freaking vacation you don’t have to pile my desk up like that!” Chou yelled.

“How would I know you will get this mad? I just put some paperwork and then it lead to the next one and next one…Who told you to get sick on these important dates when you know there is a business going on?!” Yesung fussed back,

“Do you think I would want to be sick?! Did I wake up in the morning and wish to be sick?!” Chou yelled.

“Well then take you should take care of yourself better and stop eating so much junk food!” Yesung yelled as they glare at each other until they realized the whole department was looking at them. They went back to their places pretending nothing happen.

A few hours later, Sunny showed up as she stood in front of Chou’s desk,

“May I help you?”

“Is my fiancé in?”

“No he went to the restroom, why not barge in there and find him” Chou said sarcastically as Sunny rolled her eyes.

“Did you make my lunch reservation yet?”

“Uhh let see not in a million years.” Chou said with a smirk

“Excuse me but you’re working here”

“One I work for Mr. Kim not you and two he didn’t tell me to do so and three you don’t boss me around beside its my lunch break now.” Chou said standing up as she open her drawer and grab her purse.

“Is that the new coach purse that is limited in Japan?” Sunny asked.

“Oh you noticed? It limited and I bet you don’t even have one yet” Chou said with a smirk as Sunny look at her and tries to breath.

“How can a poor girl like you afford that?!”

“Uh let see… I may seem poor but not that poor as you think. Beside I can afford my own things not like somebody standing here whining till they get it” Chou said putting on her sunglasses and walk off leaving Sunny standing there in disbelief.

Chou was outside still smiling as Ryo pulled up,

“I can see that evil smile of yours from distance” Ryo said as Chou got in.

“I just feel extra happy today”

“Yeah in the morning you were all I’m Miss Moody, talk to me I will bite you mood.” Ryo said as he handed Chou a file. “The file you wanted”

“Aww thank you so much” Chou said patting Ryo on the head as he smacks her hand.

“I’m giving you that file for free is because one, you were in a bad mood and two I hate that girl serious she annoys the hell out of me” Ryo said as Chou laugh.

“Welcome to the club”

“So where are we off too?”

“Same place I guess” Chou said as Ryo drove off.

Loud gunshots can be heard from the alley, footsteps running and yelling can be heard from distance,

“Just a little bit more to the right…” then a loud gunshot from a sniper can be heard as a body fell onto the ground.

“BOSS!!!” many of them yelled as Kaiyo got all her material put up as she ran downstairs.

Looking around before walking out gunshots was heard from distance, as she started to run.

“Next time ask him what the hell job this is before saying yes” Kaiyo mumbled as she pulled out a gun and started to shoot. A few gang members ran behind her as they continue to shoot suddenly a hand grab her into a dark alley as the other members ran pass them.

Kaiyo then look up and noticed who was the one that grab her, “My god can you at least tell me next time what mission this is?! Killing a gang member is not a funny thing!”

“You know the code”

“Oh please as if you always follow the code, you know I’m not train to kill gang members like you so excuse me for yelling!” Kaiyo yelled.

Hyun Joong cover her mouth as another bunch of members ran passes them. Kaiyo glare at him as he let go, “Sorry”

“Yeah you better, when can we get going?” Kaiyo asked as Hyun Joong lead her down the alley as they refill their guns.

Once they got out of the dark alley, they walk as if nothing happen but then a gang member spotted them and yelled for the others. They both begin to run as Hyun Joong turn around and begin shooting. Kaiyo then begin to shoot the people in front as they ran into the car as Hyun Joong begins to speed off.

“Are you okay?” Hyun Joong asked but then got no response, he look over to where Kaiyo was sitting and noticed blood begin to spread on her jacket as her face slowly turns pale.

He reaches over and pulled out a towel pressing onto her wound as he held onto one wheel. When they reach to a safe spot he park the car and reaches over to open up Kaiyo’s jacket and noticed the bullet was lodge in her shoulder. He took out a small pocket knife as Kaiyo open her eyes,

“Are you crazy?” she mumbles as Hyun Joong look at her.

“If I don’t get this bullet out of you, you will bleed to death. The pain will be for a few second, here bite down on this” Hyun Joong said placing a towel in her mouth as he turns around taking out a light box. He flicks it on and places the small knife over the fire and closes it as he turns around toward Kaiyo.

He place the knife onto the wound as it burns her skin, as he push the knife deeper into her skin, blood begin to ooze out as she let out a painful scream. She grabs onto the chair as the knife got deeper into her skin. Hyun Joong held her down with one hand as the other taking out the bullet, when he successfully did, he look at Kaiyo who was pass out on the chair. He places some medicine on it and later snitches it up. He then bandages it up as he lay her back down on the chair. He sat back at the driver seat. He looks over to his left side looking at her. He reaches out and strokes her cheek and look at her for a while. He then started the car and drove off.

Riyo sat in her car staring out the window for the past 10 minutes.

“He was beaten up…none of the police in the cell did it for sure…was it him who did it?”

An image flash as she noticed Jin’s hand seemed wounded around the knuckles.

“Why would he want to hurt Shirota like that…that doesn’t make sense” she mumbles as her cellphone rang.

“Hello?”

“Hey it’s me Jin, what are you doing?” Jin asked.

“Uh…just wandering around the place to kill time…where are you?” Riyo asked.

“Oh I’m at a café not far from my house” Jin replied.

“I see…”

“You want to eat lunch together? I miss seeing your smile the whole day” Jin said as Riyo slowly smiled.

“Sure…the café around your house right?”

“Yep, I’m sitting outside so you probably won’t miss me” Jin said.

“Okay I see you then” Riyo said hanging up as she starts the car and drove into the streets.

Chou and Ryo walked into the café as they looked around,

“That is strange…where is neechan?” Chou asked looking around as Ryo looked around.

“I know…”

“Hello how may I help you?” Hong Ki asked with a smile.

“Hahaha you’re wearing an apron” Ryo said laughing.

“Its part of the dress code” Hong Ki replied.

“Haha but you’re wearing an apron now that’s something new” Ryo said as he took a picture of Hong Ki on his cell phone.

“Hey, hey no phone in here mister!” Hong Ki said as he tries to get the phone.

“Hahahaha I cannot wait to post this online!” Ryo said laughing like a manic.

“Where’s Kaiyo?” Chou asked.

“Don’t know…when I came in here she wasn’t here…but another dude” Hong Ki said as he looks and pointed out to the guy walking out from the kitchen.

“Omg him?!” Ryo yelled as Chou look at Ryo, then Hong Ki and then the stranger.

“Who’s he?”

“Wait…you said he open the store?”

“Yeah…I was waiting outside the store when he appeared and open.”

“As in he got out of his car, he use the key to open the doors?” Ryo asked looking at Hong Ki.

“No wait! I saw him pulling out his magical wand and said ‘Alohomora’ and it opened!” Hong Ki said excitedly as Chou begins laughing while Ryo gave him the glare.

“No more Harry Potter for you mister” Ryo mumbled as Chou continue to laugh.

“Okay seriously now, how did he come in here?” Chou asked wiping the tears out of her eyes as she laughs while Ryo sat back and mumbles.

“He just said Kaiyo has an emergency and she asked him to handle the shop for a few days” Hong Ki said, “So what do you guys want?”

“We want him” Ryo said as Hong Ki looked at him.

“Uh… eating human is against the law…you’re a lawyer you should know that” Hong Ki said as Ryo glare at him again.

“Fine, fine I will get him. No wonder people think you’re gay” Hong Ki said as he ran off before Ryo got up.

“That’s so true; you seriously need a girlfriend you’re like what? 26? 27?” Chou asked as Ryo looked away.

“I’m 26 and a half sheesh and I’m not that old” Ryo mumbled as they noticed the stranger walking over to their table.

“How may I help you?”

“First who are you and why are you here?” Chou asked.

“I’m a friend of Kaiyo, she asked me to be here” he replied.

“You’re that dude that was with her a few days ago” Ryo said as the stranger just smile.

“What’s your name?”

“Kim Hyun Joong. You must be Ryo and Chou. Kaiyo mention you two will show up for lunch” Hyun Joong said as Hong Ki brought out some plates of food and place it on the table. “Hope you like it, been a while I cook. Enjoy”

Hyun Joong walks off as three of them look at him,

“He’s one weird dude…”Ryo said.

“But hot” Chou said as Hong Ki sat next to Ryo,

“Why are you here? Aren’t you suppose to be working” Ryo asked trying to push Hong Ki away.

“I’m on my lunch break” Hong Ki said eating the food.

“This is going to get me sick seriously. I see both of you in the morning, in the afternoon and night why?!” Ryo yelled as Chou and Hong Ki just give him a big smile and continue eating as Ryo grab his cup of water and drank it.

Suddenly Chou’s cellphone rang as she look at the caller id and ignore it letting it continue to ring.

“Why aren’t you picking it up?” Hong Ki asked.

“Because I don’t want to”

“Then why not turn it off?” Hong Ki asked.

“Because it’s about to stop”

“It’s still ringing” Hong Ki said pointing at the phone.

“Then let it ring.”

“But it’s annoying me” Hong Ki said as Chou ignore him and continue eating when suddenly Ryo grab it and look at the caller id and then pick it up.

“Hello?”

“Chou? You’re voice got deeper”

“Uh…she’s in the bathroom what do you need?” Ryo asked as Chou glare at him

“I was wondering when she’s coming back. I need her to do some paperwork for me.”

“It’s going to be a longgggggg time before she comes out” Ryo said trying not to laugh as Chou eyes widen. “Yeah she ate some bad food” Ryo said as Hong Ki laugh as Chou tries to grab the phone.

“Give that back to me” Chou said through her teeth.

“I will tell her you called bye now!” Ryo said hanging up and threw the phone to Chou as she look at the phone and at Ryo.

“You are so dead with me!!!”

“What you said you didn’t want to talk to him so I gave an excuse why you’re not at the phone” Ryo said as he tries not to laugh as Chou made a face at him. “Beside if you want to catch the big fish you have to let it swim far and when you reel him in you can catch it”

“Wtf are you trying to tell me?” Chou asked.

“Even I’m this slow and I do not understand what the hell he just said.” Hong Ki said as he continues to eat.

“What I meant is if you want him to take more notice into you, then try to attract him in different ways.” Ryo said as he tries to eat while Hong Ki pushes his fork away.

“I guess you’re right…” Chou said as she look toward the other side and notice Hyun Joong making coffee. “This dude is really good… hey didn’t you say he was with Kaiyo?”

“Yeah when ask her about Hong Ki living with us…”

“Oh I remember! Ryo yelled out loud about her sleeping with him” Hong Ki said as Ryo glare at him.

“She what?!”

“Yeah they seem really…mysterious and he keeps on looking at her” Ryo said.

“Well it doesn’t mean she’s sleeping with him. Come on you know her and Hideaki have something special” Chou retorted.

“Who won’t like Kaiyo? Even that short midget cop likes her” Ryo said as Chou begins to think.

“Beside when you were talking to Kaiyo, I noticed him just stealing those glances at Kaiyo seems like he is watching her and he only smiles when she talks to him. When I tried to talk to him he just sat there in silence” Hong Ki said.

“If he talks to both of you, you probably drive him to kill both of you” Chou mumbles.

After 10 minutes both Ryo and Chou left as Hong Ki clean the tables. As he walk pass Kaiyo’s office, he noticed Hyun Joong sitting there staring at something.

“Hyun Joong?”

“Oh hi Hong Ki, need something?”

“Oh I just noticed you sitting here just staring at space.” Hong Ki replied.

“I’m just thinking that’s all” Hyun Joong replied.

“I see…well I’m going back to work then” Hong Ki said as he walked out the room as Hyun Joong walk up and lock the door.

“Where would she hide that thing…” he whispered

He walked over to her desk and looked at her picture and he then moved toward the middle drawer and found a key hidden all the way in the back. He grab it and turn around and noticed a locked drawer. He opens it and found a book, he opens it and pulled out his cellphone and dial a number.

It rings once, twice a voice picked up,

"Found what you wanted" Hyun Joong said

Riyo parked her car as she walked toward the café where Jin mentioned. She noticed him sitting there staring into space and his hand bandage up.

“Hey Jin.” Riyo said as Jin stood up.

“Hey, you seem pale are you okay?” Jin asked as he pulled the chair out for Riyo to sit.

“Thank you, I’m fine, just tired out today.” Riyo replied as the waiter came over as she ordered her food. “How come you’re not at work today?” Riyo asked.

“Oh…I just work on an old case so I’m just taking a break. Why you asked?” Jin asked drinking from his cup of coffee.

“I’m just curious…you’re always at work that’s all” Riyo said with a smile as Jin reaches over and held her hand.

“Aren’t you happy I’m spending more time with you?” he asked with a smile as Riyo smile back at him.

“Yeah but if you keep on skipping work like that you won’t have any money in the future” Riyo said as Jin forward and place a kiss on her lips.

“You mean our future?” Jin asked as Riyo playfully pushes him away.

“I will be right back, I have to use the restroom” Riyo said as she got up and left.

Jin opens his cellphone and look at it,

“Hey Jin, I didn’t know you were off today” a voice said from behind as Jin turn around and look at the person that called his name.

“Hey Jungmin what are you doing here?” Jin asked with a fake smile.

“I was hanging around the area buying stuff and I saw you over here so I came by to say hi.” Jungmin replied

“Oh going back to Korea already?”

“Probably next week after I’m done with something personal” Jungmin replied. “So you’re having lunch with somebody?”

“Yeah my girlfriend, I have been busy with cases and I’m neglecting her so I’m having lunch with her. She’s in the bathroom should be out soon.”

“You’re a great guy, she’s lucky to have you. Anyways I have to get going I see you around” Jungmin said as he shook Jin’s hand and walk pass Jin.

“Jin, I know a great place to eat seafood lets go there” Riyo said as Jungmin stop in his tracks and turn around.

Riyo stops where she was and looks at the figure behind Jin and stares at him as he stares back at her. Her heart begins to beat fast as she tightens the grip. Jin looks at her as she continues to stare at Jungmin noticing tears begin to whelm up in his eyes.

“This cannot be…” he whispered
