Chapter 24

While walking back toward the apartment, she noticed a figure following her. She walked fast and turns the corner. She climbs onto the balcony that was on top of her as she ran toward the other side and jump down. Pulling out a knife in her boots she held it behind her back.

The figure behind her approach the corner but saw nobody. Kaiyo slowly approach the figure moving the knife toward the figure,

“She’s getting good” he mumbled as he heard a click from behind him as he felt a cold sharp knife at his throat

“Who are you and why did you follow me?” Kaiyo asked as the figure turn around.

Kaiyo eyes widen as the figure in front of her smile, “Miss me?” Toma asked as she drops her knife.

“It has been a while hasn’t it?” Toma asked with a smile as he moves toward her but she glared at him.

“What do you want?” Kaiyo asked

“What no hug?” Toma asked

“If I wanted to hug you, I already did. Beside you and me have no relationships at all so what the hell do you want from me and why did you call my house?” Kaiyo asked

“I left for a few years and now I’m your enemy I must say you take after Hideaki pretty well” Toma said with a smirk leaning against a light pole next to him.

“When you’re around nothing good happens. So what do you want from me?” Kaiyo asked

“To start over with you of course” Toma said

“Ha! Do you really think I believe that? You dumped me to get away from this life and now you want to start over that is really hilarious” Kaiyo said walking off as Toma catch up with her.

“We both know you still love me even with our history” Toma said proudly as Kaiyo rolled her eyes.

“I’m still in love with you? What planet are you on? I moved on from you already. In fact, I move beyond the line that you cannot even see it” Kaiyo said as she stop and glare at Toma.

“Really? I somehow overheard you asking a dog for advice and my name was included” Toma said with a smirk on his face

“You have no self control do you? Eavesdropping on people like that, beside you were included because I did thought about giving you a chance, but then I realized you’re an ass so I sold your ring and made a profit” Kaiyo said as Toma smirk turned into a unhappy one and his face structure changed

“You what?”

“Eventually you’re really cheap you know that, even Hideaki can buy something double times than what you gave me” Kaiyo said as she walks away.

Toma glared at her as he ran behind her and yank her back to make her face him.

“What’s your deal with Hideaki?”

“None of your business”

“Really? Look straight at me and tell me that you have no feelings for him” Toma said as Kaiyo looked at him.

“My feelings for him got nothing to do with you. From now on, don’t you ever appear in my face” Kaiyo said as she walks away

“So the rumors are true then” Toma said as Kaiyo stop halfway

“That you and Hideaki are a couple and that you have a child with him” Toma said as Kaiyo turns around

“What?”

“Don’t you tell me that boy isn’t Hideaki’s biological son. He’s a split image from him” Toma said.

“You leave Ryosuke out of this. This is between you and me, nobody else. So I advise you to leave them alone or else I will take care of you the way I should have done years ago” Kaiyo said without blinking her eyes as Toma laughed

“Ah so that would mean you admit that both of them are more than something to you eh? I’m really curious of when did you and my ex-friend hook up” Toma said sarcastically as Kaiyo whipped out her gun pointing at him, “Aww look at you and your violence ways. I just want to talk to you. You really hang around Hideaki too long to learn all his impulsive ways” Toma said staring at the gun.

“Do you really believe you can take me down? Even though you were train under Hideaki and somehow inherit half of his skills, doesn’t mean I’m no less good than you.” Toma said walking pass Kaiyo.

“But it’s really nice to see my ex-girlfriend and my ex-friend somehow hooking up with each other” Toma said walking off as if nothing happen. Kaiyo put her gun back into her jacket as she stood there mimicking what he said.

“I do not act like Hideaki. He’s an idiot for saying that” Kaiyo mumbled as she walked back to the apartment.

As Kaiyo reached back to the apartment, she took off her jacket and threw it on the couch and sat down.

“Why is everybody saying me and him similar? That is just nonsense” Kaiyo sat there and then she sat up,

“Crap forgot to go buy food for tonight” Kaiyo said as jumping off the couch, grabbing a coat off the coat racket and left the apartment.

Aiba and Seungho walked back to where Hideaki was sitting at the bench dialing on his phone.

“Now she turn off her phone, don’t know what is going on with her mind lately. I mean sometimes she acts like she accepted me and then she just withdraw that and act like I’m going to kill her” Hideaki said as Aiba elbow Seungho in the ribs as was about to say something.

“Maybe she’s just confused. I mean she sounds very confusing” Aiba said as Hideaki nodded his head.

“Or you’re not trying your best” Seungho said as Aiba glared at him.

“What do you mean?” Hideaki asked

“Dude, you’re basically giving her chances to run, don’t do that. If you keep on doing that, she’s going to run off and never return. Corner her like you do with your prey or pounce her and seal the deal. See that’s easy” Seungho said

“Well to you it’s easy but if I can’t locate her how is that easy?” Hideaki asked as Seungho was about to say something when Aiba jumped off the bench,

“Damn we have work today we should get going before we get fired” Aiba said yanking Seungho off the bench. “It’s really nice talking to you again aniki. Let’s catch up later! Bye!!” Aiba said waving at Hideaki as he tugs Seungho away.

“I didn’t see them for a while and they still act weird” Hideaki said as he went back and dial Kaiyo’s phone number.

As Aiba and Seungho enter the apartment, Seungho threw himself on the couch,

“Why did you elbow me in the ribs?! I have a bruise now! It’s turning purple!!” Seungho yelled as he lifts up his shirt showing the bruise.

“Because I want to stop you from saying unnecessary stuff and if it’s turning purple, that means its healing”

“That is one stupidest thing ever. Purple means I’m going to die and besides telling aniki that his lover is here with us so he doesn’t have to run around”

“She’s already confused enough, you want her to actually runaway and he can’t find her?” Aiba asked

“True but still, we have to help him. He helped us” Seungho said

“I know that he helped us and we will repay him but not like this. We’re not giving our other friend up just because he’s our closest friend” Aiba said

“It’s not just that, but let me tell you its like we are destined to help them. I mean why else would you slam your bike into Kaiyo?” Seungho asked

“Yeah when she was going to the restaurant to meet aniki and the other dude” Aiba said, “Basically, I interfere meaning she’s not meant for them” Aiba said

“Butttt if you think it another way, you helped her have time to think and that leads to her living her with us for a while and that we all sudden just bump into aniki like that?” Seungho asked as Aiba doesn’t know what to say next.

“See, you have nothing else to say either meaning you agree what I just said. Beside they are totally meant for each other beside the fact that aniki had to probably lie about his occupation.” Seungho said

“All I know is we should not interfere with this at all. Nothing good comes out when you interfere” Aiba said as Seungho rolled his eyes

“Whatever you’re just jealous that I’m good at matchmaking” Seungho said

“Oh really? The last couple you hook up, they got divorce 6 months later and she basically drain him from his account” Aiba said

“Well that wasn’t my fault if he failed to give her what she wants you know what I mean” Seungho said as Aiba rolled his eyes. “Beside this is different, I know that Kaiyo-san has feelings for aniki and that aniki really loves her so this will work” Seungho said as he stood up from the couch and noticed Kaiyo’s jacket on the chair.

“Isn’t this Kaiyo’s jacket?” Seungho asked as Aiba eyes open wide as he ran into every room in the apartment,

“She’s not here thank god she didn’t hear that conversation” Aiba said

“She probably left somewhere and left it here” Seungho said as he picked it up. Something fell out from the jacket as he went over to pick it up.

“What is it?” Aiba asked as Seungho held up what fell on the ground,

“Are you sure she’s really a café owner?” Seungho asked as Aiba looked at him weirdly

“Yeah why?”

“Because café owners don’t carry a .22cal like this especially hidden in their jackets” Seungho said holding the gun that dropped on the ground

Aiba looked at Seungho who continue to hold the gun,

“Dude, stop lying that is your gun” Aiba said.

“This is not my gun! I swear!” Seungho yelled holding it and pointing at Aiba who tries to dodge it.

“Didn’t Hideaki teach you not to wave your gun around like that?! It doesn’t have eyes!” Aiba said as Seungho stop and put it in the counter.

“This isn’t my gun; beside I don’t carry a .22cal. This type of gun is for female use, not men, didn’t Hideaki teach you that?” Seungho asked as Aiba rolled his eyes

“You’re telling me that Kaiyo is an assassin?” Aiba asked

“Why else would Hideaki fall for her? If she was a regular café owner now that is boring and he wouldn’t give a damn about her. We know him for sure, and that he doesn’t like coffee so why would he fall for a café owner. If she’s an assassin now it’s a different story.” Seungho said with a proud face.

“Dude, stop making up stories to get them together saying they are a perfect couple because their assassins. You’re telling that right now if I open that safe, your gun is in there” Aiba said as Seungho nodded his head.

“And if it is in there?” Seungho asked

“Then I will buy you dinner” Aiba said

“Make that a whole week” Seungho said as Aiba shook Seungho’s hand as he open the safe that was the desk drawer.

In the box was two guns, one was his while the other one was Seungho’s. Seungho stood there smiling proudly,

“You know, I heard of a very good restaurant that just open” he said with a big smile as Aiba glared at him.

“Our group doesn’t have a female assassin.”

“Well this could have happen after we were gone, beside if you want to figure out who trained her wait till she gets home” Seungho said as he heard keys at the apartment. He put the gun back into her jacket and placed it back on the couch as Kaiyo walked in.

“Hey I brought food to cook.” Kaiyo said as she took off her boots and put on the house slippers, “dinner will be a bit late today hope you guys aren’t hungry” Kaiyo said as she ran into the kitchen.

“You know, Aiba decided to treat us to dinner tonight so you shouldn’t cook” Seungho said.

“But I brought food to cook” Kaiyo said holding up bags

“Save it for tomorrow just go shower and get ready” Aiba said as she nodded her head and left to go shower.

“You really have to rub it in don’t you?” Aiba asked

“You want to make another bet?” Seungho asked

“What now?” Aiba asked through his teeth.

“I bet if you look in her jacket again, there are four hidden compartments and each one has one gun in each compartment” Seungho said with confidence as Aiba open her jacket on the couch and noticed she has four compartment.

“That is just a coincidence. Beside you held her jacket a while ago, you could have felt it” Aiba retorted.

“Fine if you don’t believe me that she’s assassin, just check her boots. Both of them, inside you will fine total of four hidden miniature knives on the side inside. But first if you lose this round, you will not only treat me dinner for a whole week, but desserts” Seungho said with a big smile on his face as Aiba walked pass him smacking his head. Seungho glared at him as Aiba walked over to where Kaiyo took off her boots. He bent down and felt inside it as he pulled out in each boot two miniature knives hidden which equal to four knives

“How did you?”

“I took a guess” Seungho said with his hands up surrendering.

“This close?” Aiba asked

“I took a guess because I believe aniki trained her and that his habits rubbed off on her. He carries at least 4 hidden guns in his jackets and 4 hidden knives either strap to his legs or shoes” Seungho said.

“Hideaki trained her?” Aiba asked

“Duh, that’s how he fell in love with her. It’s like soap opera.” Seungho said trying not to laugh.

“I wonder what made him change his mind, he never accepted females from what I remember” Aiba said.

“That question you should ask him and put those back because I think she’s done” Seungho said as he jumped back on the couch as Aiba put the knives back.

Kaiyo came out as they pretended nothing happen, “You guys are odd” Kaiyo said as she walked back into the room.

They sat quietly till they heard a buzzing noise. Seungho stood up following it till he reach the jacket Kaiyo put on the coat rack. He digs into the pocket and pulled out a cell phone,

“Wonder who is it?” Seungho asked as he picks it up. “Hello?”

“Who are you and why did you picked up Kaiyo’s phone!” Hideaki yelled over the phone as Seungho eyes open wide

“Who is it?” Aiba asked

“It’s aniki and he sounds angry.” Seungho squeaks covering the phone.

“Hang up!” Aiba fussed

“We can’t hang up on aniki! That’s rude!” Seungho said
“Then tell him bye and hang up!” Aiba said as Seungho threw the phone to him.

“Then you say it” Seungho said as Aiba looked at the phone and threw it back at Seungho who cover the phone,

“Well you picked it up! You wanted to play matchmaking there you go here’s your chance.” Aiba said

“What with yelling over the phone that he wants to kill me hell no! Beside you object to this matchmaking so you tell him bye” Seungho said throwing it back to Aiba.

They continue to throw it back and forth until Aiba threw it back at Seungho and ran off into the room. Seungho stood there panicking when he heard Hideaki raising his tone,

“Who is this and where is Kaiyo?!” Hideaki asked in a demanding voice.

“I’m sorry but you got the wrong number” Seungho said squeaking his voice high pitch trying to be a female as he hangs up.

“That was close. I should just delete this and pretend he never calls but first I need to do something” Seungho said with a smile on his face.

About 20 minutes later they were heading to a restaurant as Aiba kept looking at Seungho who was texting on his phone.

“Who are you texting this time?” Aiba asked

“None of your business” Seungho said as he close his phone as the reach the restaurant.

“Wow this place look nice and cozy” Kaiyo said as they walked into a restaurant

“Why here?” Aiba asked

“Because you work here of course you get discount. Just helping you save some money ^_^ and it’s a buffet!” Seungho said with a smile

Hideaki walked over to his phone as it indicate there was a text,

“Whose number is this?” he asked as he open it. “And an address…what is Kaiyo is in danger? Damn that Toma and Hyun Joong” Hideaki mumbled as he grabs his jacket as he left the hotel room.

While eating, Seungho kept looking at the door as Aiba looked at him weirdly,

“You seem really off” Aiba said

“No you are off, anyways Kaiyo tell us more about this guy that you might like” Seungho said twirling his fork in his pasta

“Well…”

“How did you two meet?” Seungho asked

“That is complicated” Kaiyo said

“Does he like you?”

“Why are you asking me nonstop?” Kaiyo asked as Seungho just shrug, “I’m a curious person”

“You do know curiosity killed the cat right?” Aiba asked as he glare at Seungho who ignore him

“Just tell us how is he?” Seungho asked

“He’s a nice guy who has been there for me for a long time.” Kaiyo said as Seungho cut her off,

“And yet you cannot figure out if you love him or not? That is slow I’m sorry” Seungho commented as Aiba kicked him under the table

“I want to express it but somehow I’m afraid it will hurt again” Kaiyo mumbled

“That is why people take risk especially for love” Seungho said as Aiba kicked him again but he moved his leg as Aiba kick the chair.

“I just need time” Kaiyo said

“But don’t take too long now; he can’t always wait around too long” Seungho comment

“Like you? You didn’t wait around too long” Aiba said as Seungho glared at him.

“I waited, she didn’t come, and more like dumped me” Seungho said in an angry tone as he stuff the pasta in his mouth.

“You seem to have issues” Kaiyo said

“I don’t! Anyways how does he look like so we can judge him if he’s right for you” Seungho said as he ignore Aiba’s concern look.

“I don’t have a photo of him” Kaiyo said

“Really?” Seungho asked

“Okay fine” Kaiyo mumbled as she took out her phone, it’s not a good photo though” Kaiyo said as she showed her phone to them.

“And his name?” Aiba asked

“Hideaki”

Seungho tried not to smile as he nodded,

“Did you stalk him? Cause he seem to be on the phone” Seungho said

“I didn’t stalk him. I just like his serious look that’s all” Kaiyo said as she puts her phone away.

As they continue to eat, Hideaki arrive at the destination where the text mention,

“A restaurant? Seriously?” Hideaki asked himself as he walked into the place. He looked around and noticed families enjoying their meal when he spotted at in the middle of the room.

“How many people sir?” the waiter asked

“I’m looking for some friends, I just saw them thank you” Hideaki said as he walked over to the table,

“You know Kaiyo… that Hideaki guy seem to be here” Seungho said pointing behind her.

“What? He’s not he’s somewh---” Kaiyo stops as she saw a shadow standing behind her. “Please do not be who I think it is” Kaiyo mumbled as she turns around.

“So you’re here enjoying a grand meal while I’m worry sick about you” Hideaki fussed

“How did you find me?” Kaiyo asked trying to swallow her food

“I know my ways. If I found you in this area, I know you will be hanging around here so I went searching for you” Hideaki lied. “And these guys are?”

“I’m Seungho and he’s Aiba. Apparently Aiba slam into her a few nights ago” Seungho said as Aiba cover his mouth.

“This gentleman doesn’t need to know what happen a few nights ago” Aiba said as Seungho push his hands away

“What? I don’t want him to get mad at our friend mishap” Seungho said nicely
“You guys found her?” Hideaki asked smiling as he glares at them.

“Technically she found us” Aiba said as Kaiyo tried to slide off the chair as Hideaki pull her back up.

“You should sit” Aiba said as he was about to move when Kaiyo shook her head. “You can sit right next to me and Seungho” Aiba said as he felt Hideaki’s glare burning through him.

Hideaki sat down as Seungho tried to break the silence,

“So you must be Hideaki we heard a lot about” Seungho said,

“Really? I thought that I disappeared when some people don’t tell me the truth” Hideaki said as Aiba tried to say something,

“I just wanted time alone to think is it that hard to ask for?” Kaiyo asked as Hideaki looked at all three

“And your answer?”

“My answer?”

“You came out here to think did you get your answer?” Hideaki asked

“My answer…is that I fell for somebody else” Kaiyo lied as both Seungho and Aiba choked on their water

“What?”

“Yes I realized life is too short and that I like Aiba-kun” Kaiyo said as Aiba shook his head no as Hideaki glare at him.

“You like him?” Hideaki repeated

“Yes” Kaiyo lied

Before Hideaki said anything else Seungho joined in,

“He won’t like you back” Seungho said

“Why?” Kaiyo asked

“He’s gay” Seungho said as Aiba eyes open wide

“He’s what?”

“He’s GAY. You know…he likes men” Seungho said as Aiba cover his face,

“You’re gay?” Kaiyo asked

“Well not fully there yet but I think he’s bi” Seungho said as he smiled as Aiba bang his head on the table while Hideaki picked up the glass of water to drink trying his best not to laugh

“Are you really?” Kaiyo asked as Aiba looked at her,

“Yes I’m bi, I didn’t want to tell people” Aiba said as Seungho tried not to laugh so hard

“And beside you’re confused with your old feelings not new feelings. In the process of helping you think, you should talk to one of your old feelings.” Seungho said as he got up to get more food as he drags Aiba away.

“I don’t get you I mean one day you treat me like a normal person the next your hiding from me like I’m going to kill you” Hideaki said as Kaiyo tries to not look at him.

“I somehow have mix feelings you know” Kaiyo said as she looked the other way trying to eat as Hideaki begin tapping his fingers on the table

“You know you could at least give me a head up where you are at. There are dangerous people out there in whom I don’t want you to run into” Hideaki said as Kaiyo nodded her head without looking up.

As Aiba and Seungho return to the table Kaiyo excused herself and left as they watch her leave,

“You two bump into her 2 days ago, I showed you her picture and you two didn’t tell me you knew her?!” Hideaki asked in a strict tone as Aiba and Seungho looked around.

“I told you this is a bad idea” Aiba mumbled

“Well I wanted to do something good” Seungho mumbled back

“I’m still here you know” Hideaki said as he smack both of them on the back of their heads.

“Well you see…on the night she was suppose to meet you or the other guy, I by accident hit her with my bike” Aiba said as Hideaki eyes open wide. “No worries she had no broken bones” Aiba said as Hideaki let out a relief sigh.

“And she didn’t want to go back to where she was because she was having confusing thoughts so we let her stay with us for a while and then we bump into you and we didn’t know that she was supposed to meet you until you show us her picture. We figure that since she’s really confuse, we let her figure it out” Aiba said as Hideaki just nodded.

“You don’t seem to like that answer” Seungho said as Hideaki smiled at him

“Do you think so?” Hideaki asked

“We’re sorry we didn’t tell you but we have to respect her decision too because you now know she’s with us so that’s a good thing. We can keep bad people like your rivals away from her” Seungho said.

“Still you two could at least tell me so I won’t have to worry to death about her” Hideaki said

“You must really like her huh?” Aiba asked

“Dude is your sense of sensing gone? If he’s this mad at us of course” Seungho fussed as they noticed Kaiyo coming back as they pretend nothing happen.

“So Kaiyo, tell us how did you mean Hideaki-san?” Seungho asked as Kaiyo choke on her food.

“That is a long story” Kaiyo said

“We have the whole night don’t worry” Seungho said as Aiba kicked him

“It’s a long story we have a movie to catch so we have no time for long stories” Aiba said as he saw Kaiyo getting uncomfortable

Then throughout the whole dinner, all four sat there quietly eating as Seungho looked up and noticed how Kaiyo and Hideaki ate as he kicked Aiba under the table. Aiba looked up as Seungho gave him a look and then at Kaiyo and Hideaki as they both observe them eating. They nodded as both Hideaki and Kaiyo looked up and look back down.

Once they were done they walked outside,

“We’re heading to the movies, do you want to come along Hideaki-san?”

“He’s really busy I doubt he has time for movie” Kaiyo butt in

“Actually my schedule just clear up I have the whole night free actually the whole day” Hideaki said with a smirk

“Great then let’s go” Seungho said as he hauled over a taxi as Aiba got in first.

“You know I feel like going home now” Kaiyo said

“Tell me what do you want me to do? When I ask you to go on this trip with me, you freely agree. You know this trip is for us to understand our feelings for each other. You even agree to share a room with me” Hideaki said in a frustrated tone.

“Yes I did but then I realized everything was moving too fast! I feel overwhelm!” Kaiyo yelled.

“Maybe we shouldn’t go to the movies…”Aiba said as Seungho slam the door.

“To the movie theater around 2 blocks down! Go! Go!” Seungho said at the driver speeding off.

“You two clearly have issues that need to be talk out but more nicely” Seungho said as he tries to calm them down as they push him aside

“I would talk out the issue if somebody doesn’t play hide and seek with me!” Hideaki yelled

“I’m a girl for crying out loud, I run because I don’t want to face anything. We have a history together do you really think these decision would be easy?!” Kaiyo yelled

“Okay what we have isn’t history, it’s more like something that we did out of love” Hideaki said

“Okay, I sense that you two really have a lot of issues and that involves you two sleeping with each other.” Seungho said as Kaiyo and Hideaki looked at him with their eyes open wide “That’s right, I can sense that you two did more than talking and it involves a bed” Seungho said as the taxi that Aiba was in drove back.

“What was that?!” Aiba asked as he stuck his head out the window

“Hey buddy, how was the movie?” Seungho asked

“I didn’t watch it yet.” Aiba said through his teeth

“Well over here we’re not done yet. So we can’t watch with you yet. So you should watch it first without us” Seungho said.

“No”

“Driver, go to the movie theater. Go!” Seungho yelled as the driver speed off before Aiba can reject.

“Okay back to you two, seriously you two have feelings for each other why not settle this like adults instead of teenagers?” Seungho asked nicely as they push him again as he fell on his butt.

“That was rude!” Seungho yelled

“It’s not love if I’m drunk!” Kaiyo yelled

“Okay first time you were drunk, second time not so much” Hideaki said

“I was so drunk” Kaiyo defended

“You were not”

“YOU TWO NEED TO JUST SUCK IT UP AND ADMIT YOU HAVE SEX BECAUSE YOU TWO HAVE FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER!!” Seungho yelled as Hideaki and Kaiyo looked at him

“Do you really have to advertise to this whole area I slept with him” Kaiyo asked

“Hey, I’m not the only not owning up to what you did to him or he did to you whatever but you two seriously have feeling for each other. Maybe if you actually sit down and talk then it would be easier” Seungho said

As three of them stood there arguing, a shadow appeared on the rooftop in the next building.

“If you want to take out a target, you have to do it yourself” the shadow said as it placed a sniper rifle on the edge as the shadow looked into view.

“Good bye Hideaki” the shadow mumbled as it pushes the trigger

While they were arguing, Kaiyo noticed a red dot on Hideaki’s jacket as she looked up around the roof noticing the shadow, “GET DOWN!!” she yelled as the shot rang out. On instinct she pushes Hideaki on the ground lying on top of him. As she open her eyes they look at each other,

“Are you okay?” She asked as she looks at him as he had no reaction, “Hideaki?” she called out as he stares at her with no reaction. “Please Hideaki, answer me don’t play this game. I promise I won’t run just answer me” Kaiyo said as she shook him a few times as he smile at her

“You promise” Hideaki said as he sat up as Kaiyo pushed him.

“You’re a dirty ass you know that” Kaiyo said

“Hey you worried for me I just took that for advantage” Hideaki said as he got up helping Kaiyo get up.

“Whatever still dirty” Kaiyo mumbled as the taxi Aiba was in drove back.

“What happen? Why is everybody running and screaming?” Aiba asked

“Somebody tried to kill him” Kaiyo mumbled

“And they miss?” Aiba asked

“Yep” Kaiyo said

“I don’t think so” Seungho said as they look at him

“What?”

They noticed blood was dripping from his body,
