Chapter 15

Kaiyo sat in horror as cold sweats ran down her forehead. She looked at the clock near the bed which said 2:18am. Suddenly she heard the door open and more than one footstep in the place. She got out of bed and opens the bedroom door and looked around in the dark hallway. She walks back into her room as she grabs a gun from her jacket. She made her way into the hallway as she held her gun in one hand nearby. She heard some noises in the living room as she slowly approaches the two shadows near the couch. She pulled back the trigger as one of the shadow in front of her stood still.

She could feel the body slowly facing her, “Who are you and what are you doing in here?!” she yelled as lighting flashes outside the window giving some light into the room.

Her eyes open wide as she looks at who was in front of her,

“Hideaki?!” Kaiyo said in shock as she lower her gun as Hideaki gave her a smile. The gun in her hand slip out dropping onto the ground as she stood there staring at him.

“Kaiyo…” he whispered as his eyes looked at her wounded shoulder. He rushes over to her where they were a few inches apart. He looks at her face as his eyes noticing her shoulder.

“I’m fine, don’t worry” Kaiyo assure him as he pulled her into his arms. “I’m always finding a way to injured myself when I’m on a mission don’t you remember. This wound is nothing important.” Kaiyo said but Hideaki still didn’t let go.

“I’m sorry, I should have been there for you” he whispered in her ears as she felt warmth and secure after hearing those words. She closed her eyes as she stood still with his arms around her. They stood like that for a while without realizing another set of eyes looking at them in the dark.

Then a loud thump cause Kaiyo to move away from Hideaki as she walked over and turn on the light. Her eyes widen as she saw who the other shadow was.

“Hyun Joong!” she screamed running over to the body on the floor as Hideaki looked at her expression from distance. His expression change as he watches her caring for another man in his presence. His heart felt as if it was getting cut by a knife. He shook off that feeling as he walked over to where they were at.

“What happen??” Kaiyo asked as Hideaki look at her worry face.

“I was in the area on a mission when I heard shooting so I check it out and found him lying on the floor with a bunch of dead guys. So I got him out of there before anybody found out” Hideaki replied.

“No wonder he hasn’t pick up my calls…his injury isn’t that bad, looks like a bullet graze pass his arm that cause him to lose a lot of blood. I’m going to get some bandages, stay here with him” Kaiyo said as she ran off toward the bathroom.

Hideaki look at her shadow as he looks back at Hyun Joong who was passed out on the couch. She later came back with a kit as she tended Hyun Joong wound. Later she helped him take some medication in case of an infection. Hideaki help carrying Hyun Joong into the room as she pulled up the blanket watching him sleep. She walks into the kitchen as she begins to make some soup. Hideaki standing from distance watches her as rushes around the place finding stuff to cook.

When she was done she walks out from the kitchen as Hideaki was flipping the channel on the TV. Raining was still pouring down the sky as it hit lightly on the window. Kaiyo sat on the opposite end of the couch as she took a quick glance at Hideaki who turn to look at her as she pretend to look the other way. A small smile appeared on Hideaki lips as he watches Kaiyo flipping through the pile of magazine nervously as she pretended not to look at his direction. Then his expression got serious as he sat near Kaiyo who turn to look at him.

“Yes?”

“I came here for a reason and it’s important” Hideaki said slowly.

“Something happen?” Kaiyo asked.

“Ryo tried calling you but your phone seems to be out of service” Hideaki said.

“Yeah bad connection here seriously” Kaiyo mumbled as she look at her cellphone.

“Anyways, Ryo told me that somebody sent these to Riyo” Hideaki said handing the photos to Kaiyo as she flips through them with a horror expression.

“Oh my…who could have done this?!” Kaiyo asked as Hideaki lean back on the couch.

“The one that murdered Mike 4 years ago, apparently the murder is still out there and now he’s wanting to taunt Riyo with it and it seems like she might be the next victim” Hideaki said in a serious tone.

“I’m still wondering how the man that claims to kill Mike can actually kill Mike 4 years ago. Mike himself is a good sniper, better than me of course and never made a mistake at all. He always completes his mission on time and always finishes it fast.” Kaiyo said as she handed back the photos.

“Exactly, looking at these pictures, the one that shot him knows what he’s doing and these wounds on Mike aren’t that simple. He knows this killer.” Hideaki said looking at the photos.

“Why do you say that?”

“Look at these bullet wounds, it’s at close range. He let his guard down and the killer took this chance to kill him” Hideaki said

“I wonder who could do this to him…” Kaiyo whispered.

“That’s why we have to be careful around people. We have to watch our back before we’re next” Hideaki said.

“That means…Riyo found out about this…am I right?”

“Ryo locked her in the room already. By the time we get back, we should explain to her”

“What are we going to explain to her? Hey Riyo, your fiancé is a killer and that is why he ended up dead because he got many enemies” Kaiyo said sarcastically as Hideaki tried not to laugh at her expression. “Hey, why are you laughing?!” Kaiyo yelled.

“Sorry but your expression was adorable.” Hideaki said as he smiled at her as she turn away holding her cheeks. “Anyways, we just have to tell a fib. I already made up a great story for you. All we tell her is that Mike is a bodyguard and we just make up the rest of the story from there” Hideaki said as Kaiyo gave him a weird look.

“And you said you got this story figure out but Mike as a bodyguard is a good one” Kaiyo said as Hideaki gave her a proud smile.

“I’m smart”

“That’s why you’re the leader” Kaiyo said giving him thumbs up.

“Why thank you for the compliment. We have to go back tomorrow to deal with this problem and get to the bottom of who would dare send these photos” Hideaki said.

“How are we going to get home with him injured?” Kaiyo asked.

“We’re taking him along with us. I don’t him to die here yet” Hideaki said with a weak smile.

“Sure, so we’re going tomorrow?” Kaiyo asked as Hideaki nodded his head. “You should rest then, I’m going to go check on Hyun Joong” Kaiyo said as she got up as Hideaki watches her walk away.

“I do wish you see me the way you look at him” Hideaki whispered as he lay on the couch.

Yesung sat in his office in the dark as he stares at the rainy night sky. He lean back as voices echoes in his mind. He twirls the pen in his hand as a smirk appeared on his lips. His cellphone rang as he looked at it hoping it was her but it turn out to be the other woman. He hit ignore as he place the cellphone on the table turning back to look at the sky.

“Soon this will be over and I can finally be free once again” he whispered.

Chou sat on her bed as she listens to her voicemail. She closes her phone as she grabs her pillow and screamed. She sat up as she pick up her phone and stare at the number on the caller id. Her finger trembling as she hesitates to hit send. She closes her phone as she walked over to the closet. She opens it as she pulled out a box at the bottom. She opens it as she digs into the bottom pulling out a small photo album. She flips through it as she looks at the photos. A smile appeared on her face as she flips through them,

“I do wish we were all back at these moments. We didn’t have a lot of problems to deal with and we were all together happily” she whispered. “If you haven’t died Mike, you would have married Riyo and I would be in the fashion business but you’re dead and now both of us are lost and don’t know what to do” she mumbled as she lean her head backward onto the door.

“Man I cannot believe Erika just left like that! I have to walk you home” Lillian complained as Hong Ki tries to keep up with her walking speed.

“Can you slow down?! I have to walk slowly and you’re walking like there is a marathon going on!” Hong Ki yelled from distance as Lillian stop and walk back to where he is.

“How much further till your house?” Lillian asked.

“About 3 more blocks, hey I told you to get a taxi but you didn’t want to” Hong Ki complained.

“Even though I’m a cop it doesn’t mean I’m rich that’s why I car pull with my friends you need to learn to save money” Lillian said pushing his head as she continue to walk in front of him.

“I have a piggy bank for your info” Hong Ki mumbled. He was about to say something when her cellphone rang.

“Hello?”

“Hey where are you?” the voice on the other line asked.

Hong Ki noticed her big smile as he caught up with her, “I’m walking a friend home. He says he’s gaining weight so he wants to walk home. I’m afraid the dogs will go after him so I’m walking with him. Where are you Yoochun?” Lillian asked as Hong Ki stood next to her as he mimics her on the phone.

“I just got off from work, how about we go out for dinner? We haven’t been spending enough time together” Yoochun said.

“Sure, how about you drive by and pick me up from my friend house?” Lillian asked.

“Sure, what’s the address?”

Lillian covers the phone as she smacks Hong Ki’s head, “what’s the address where you live?”

“Sheesh stop using violence on me! I’m halfway broken because of you.” Hong Ki hissed as he handed her a piece of paper with the address as she snatch it from him and stuck her tongue at him.

Lillian read the address to Yoochun as she hangs up and jumps around.

“What are you so happy about?” Hong Ki asked.

“None of your business, we better hurry to your place because I don’t want my boyfriend to wait around because of your slow ass” Lillian said as she drags Hong Ki off as he tries to get away from her.

When they finally reach the house, Lillian push Hong Ki into the house as she slams the door shut.

“That was so rude!” Hong Ki yelled as he noticed a car pulling into the drive way. Lillian wave as the driver got out of the car. Hong Ki snuck by the window and took a peep as he look at who was she waving too.

The man she called Yoochun was fairly skinny and taller than him. “The only good thing about him is that he’s taller than me other than that, he’s skinny as a toothpick which I can break him in half” Hong Ki said to himself as Chou appeared behind him.

“What are you doing?” Chou asked as Hong Ki shush her and push her away as he stood there observing how Yoochun made her smile more brightly than when she was with him. Yoochun then push her hair behind her ears as she gave her a kiss on the cheek.

“Damn that…”

“Seriously? You like that girl?!” Chou asked as Hong Ki pushes her further away.

Yoochun then lead Lillian into the car as he got back into his car. He watches them back out from the driveway and disappear into the dark street.

“What’s up with your body?” Chou asked as she noticed him wearing a casts in both his arm and leg.

“I got injured when I save somebody and why is it so dark in here?” Hong Ki asked as Chou shrug. “What’s up with you? I can see your gloomy face in the dark”

“Nothing.” Chou mumbled as she walks away.

“Where is everybody?” Hong Ki asked as he follows behind Chou.

“Don’t know where that Ryo is at but Riyo is in her room sleeping. Don’t bother her” Chou said walking up the stairs.

Hong Ki watches her disappear up the stairs as he look around the house, “Man this house is creepy in the dark” he mumbled as he walks up the stairs.

Kaiyo walked into the room as she noticed Hyun Joong sleeping. She walked over and took the jacket that was on the bed to hang on the coat rack when a box drops onto the ground. She picked it up and opens it up and noticed the star pendant inside. Her eyes then look at Hyun Joong who is still sleeping. She closes the box and places it back into the jacket as she sat on the chair next to the bed. She noticed how his face was pale under the moonlight. Her hand reaches out and touches his cheek but pull her hand back when he started to stir. She sat back on the chair as she looks outside the window,

“Tell me what I should do?” she asked herself as she looks at Hyun Joong.

Riyo toss and turn on the bed as the images in the photos replay in her mind. It was as if she was there with him. The pain he felt as he tries to fight for his life but in the end he had to accept the fact that he was going to die. She tries to scream his name but no words came out. She tried to run over to him but her foot wouldn’t even budge.

A loud shot was heard as she opens her eyes and saw him on the ground. The image of her beloved lying on the ground lifeless. His eyes were open with no sign of life in them. Blood was all over his body and all over the ground he was laying. Finally she heard her own voice as she screams his name but got no answer. As she tries to run toward him, she suddenly fell onto the ground. She tries to get up but it was no use.

Her eyes open wide as she sat up on the bed. No matter how much she opens her eyes, and tells herself Mike is still with her, the truth is, he’s dead.

Dead for 4 years…

She pulled her leg closer to her body as she place her head on her knees as tears roll down her eyes hoping everything will be over soon.

The sun finally rise as it brings another new day. Kaiyo open her eyes as she sun shine into the room. She noticed Hyun Joong was not in his bed but instead a note and a box next to it. She grabs the note and read it,

“When you read this letter, that means you just woke up. I have an important mission to do so I cannot leave with you and Hideaki. Take care and this box is an early birthday present” she read softly to herself as she looks at the box. She sat down on the bed and opens it and saw the star pendant. A smile appeared on her face as she close the box getting up off the bed. As she open the door Hideaki stood there,

“Good morning” Hideaki said as Kaiyo smile at him.

“Good morning how was your sleep?” Kaiyo asked.

“Pretty good, just a stiff back though. By the way where is Hyun Joong?” Hideaki asked

“He left…you didn’t see him leave?”

“I was totally passed out due to me carrying him up those steps so I didn’t hear a thing” Hideaki replied.

“First time hearing you sleep in that heavy, but he left me a note saying he’s heading to a new mission so he’s gone” Kaiyo said as she walk out the room heading toward the bathroom as she wash her face and brush her teeth.

“Wait, left for a mission that means he took the car?!” Hideaki asked as Kaiyo look at him.

“How are we going to get home then?” Kaiyo asked.

“Well when I drove here I noticed a subway station down a mile we can catch the train home” Hideaki replied.

“Seriously?! That means we have to walk there?!” Kaiyo asked in a high tone

“I’m afraid so, don’t worry I carry you but not all the way” Hideaki joked as Kaiyo threw a towel at him.

“So what do you want for breakfast?” Kaiyo asked.

“Anything is fine, just fill up because we have a longgggg walk” Hideaki said as Kaiyo head to the kitchen to cook.

After an hour they clean up the place and headed on the road,

“Man what place is this? Barely any cars around” Kaiyo mumble as she catches up with Hideaki.

“Well it’s a quiet place for sure and a lot of elderly people. A while ago when I took out the trash two old ladies kept staring at me” Hideaki complained.

“Aww they think you’re cute” Kaiyo tease.

“I think they pointed to my butt instead of my face” Hideaki mumble

“Hahaha you better make sure they aren’t stalking us” Kaiyo laughed

After 30 minutes of walking they sat down to take a break, “Can you pleaseeeee tell me how much further we have to walk?” Kaiyo whined

“Now that I cannot estimate…but I’m thinking about another 10 or 20 minutes. The good thing is the weather is nice or else we will be dead half an hour ago in the heat” Hideaki said as he lay down on the grass as Kaiyo did the same. A whip of cool breeze blew by as they took a deep breath and out.

“You know, when this is all over, I really wish to move to a new place.” Kaiyo said as Hideaki took a glance at her.

“Where to?”

“I really love the sea, if I do have extra money in the future, I want to move to where I can see the sea every day” Kaiyo said with a smile as she continue to stare at the clouds as Hideaki continue to stare at Kaiyo. “How about you?” Kaiyo asked as she turns to look at Hideaki who quickly look at the sky.

“Don’t know yet, but I do hope I can be with the person I love” Hideaki said as Kaiyo sat up.

“You will find that person one day?” Kaiyo said with a smile. “How about we get going home? I don’t want Chou or Hong Ki to tear up my house”

Hideaki then bend down as Kaiyo look at him weirdly, “What are you doing?” she asked.

“I give you a piggy back ride” Hideaki said.

“Are you sure you can handle it?” Kaiyo asked.

“Hey you’re not that heavy I hope…”Hideaki said as Kaiyo smack him on the arm. “Come on its free and you don’t have to walk” Hideaki said with a smile as Kaiyo nodded.

She got onto his back as he lifts her off the ground and begins to walk. Her arm was around his neck as she lean her head against his head.

“I remember the last time you gave me a piggy back it was two years ago when I twisted my ankle”

“Yeah running in high heels is never your thing” Hideaki teased as Kaiyo smack his head lightly.

“You know I really miss this” Kaiyo said.

“Yeah me too” Hideaki said as he continues to walk while Kaiyo lean her head against his as she close her eyes for a while. From distance a shadow hiding behind the tree watches them as his hand clench into a fist.

About 20 minutes later she opens her eyes when Hideaki said her name. She looks around and noticed they arrive at the subway station as she got off his back.

“I already got the ticket, our train will be leaving soon and we will be back home in 30 minutes” Hideaki said handing her the ticket.

As the board the train Kaiyo sat next to the window as Hideaki sat next to her. The train begins to move as Kaiyo stare out the window looking at the scenery. Hideaki stare at her as he watches her memorizing outside. A few minutes later Kaiyo’s head was against the window sleeping as he reaches over and move her hand onto his shoulder. He lean his head on top of hers as he held her hand tightly.

“I wish we can stay like this forever” he whispered softly as Kaiyo snuggle closer to Hideaki.

Ryo walk down the hallway as he opens Riyo’s door as he noticed she was still fast asleep on the bed. He looks at his watch and walk down the hallway and stop in front of a door. He bangs it loudly but got no replied. He opens the door and noticed Chou still sleeping on the bed,

“YAH YOU’RE GOING TO BE LATE FOR WORK!” Ryo yelled as Chou turn the other direction.

“I’m not going to work today!” Chou yelled back.

“He’s going to fire you if you don’t get your ass to work! You have to pay half the bills in this house to you know!” Ryo yelled as he smacks her with the pillow as she sat up.

“NO”

“What the hell happen between you and Yesung now?!” Ryo asked

“None of your business so leave me alone!” Chou yelled.

“Oh you’re going to work and I’m going to make you. You were so determined to win him and make me suffer so now you’re going to stick to it till the end!” Ryo yelled as he tries to pull Chou off the bed as she grab onto the bed post.

“I’m not going to work! I don’t know how to face him yet!” Chou yelled.

“Who freaking cares! Just keep your eyes on the computer and ignore him then sheesh!” Ryo fussed as he pulled Chou off the bed as he begins to drag her out her room.

“STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!”

Ryo let go of her legs as she stood up, “Go wash up and get change” he command as he left while Chou slam the bathroom door. Half an hour later she walks downstairs as Ryo sat on the couch while Hong Ki was flipping the channel nonstop.

“Well look who decided to come down after half an hour later” Ryo said in a sarcastic tone.

“Whatever can we get going already?” Chou asked as Ryo got off the couch.

“Aww what happen to the happy face you always have every morning?”

“Can you stop asking questions already? You’re annoying me” Chou said as she walks out the door.

“What’s her problem?” Ryo asked as Hong Ki shrug. “By the way I need you to go to the subway station to pick up somebody”

“Uh hello you forgot?” Hong Ki asked as he points to his leg.

“You can call a taxi to get you there” Ryo said.

“I’m not rich”

“Fine here is the money but you better give me back my change” Ryo said

“Who am I picking up at the station?” Hong Ki asked

“You will see” Ryo said as he close the door behind him as Chou honk multiple times. “My goodness sake I’m going to go deaf because of you!” he yelled as he got into the car and drove off.

Riyo open her eyes as the sun shine brightly into her room. She sat up and looks at the time as she got up and change. Her cellphone rang as she took a look at the number.

“Should I pick it up?” she asked as she stares at her phone but decided not to. She threw her phone on the bed and sat in front of her laptop. As she was surfing around on the net, her eyes move from the screen to the box at the bottom on the floor. She reaches over and opens it and took a look at the dolls inside. She lines them on the table and begins to count them.

On the desk was a total of 35 dolls different style, different facial, different colors. She took one as she looks at it and smile.

“You guys are the only ones that I have left that never lied to me once. I sometimes do wish Jin was like you guys.” She said as there was a knock on the door,

“Hey Riyo, I got you a bowl of cereal” Hong Ki said with a smile as he place it on the table.

“Why is there more cereal than milk?” Riyo asked

“Well you see…I didn’t want to make a mess coming upstairs so I pour the amount you needed :D” Hong Ki said with a smile as Riyo took the bowl.

“Thank you and are you okay?” she asked as Hong Ki sat on the bed.

“I’m fine, the doctor said I will be good as new in a month at least” Hong Ki said giving her a thumb up.

“That’s good to hear.” Riyo said.

“So…may I ask…why do you have creepy dolls on your desk?”

“They’re not creepy. They are called triangle dolls.”

“But they’re creepy” Hong Ki said.

“Even though they look creepy but because of this doll there are many beautiful stories” Riyo said as she hands one to Hong Ki.

“What’s the story?”

“It is said the Triangel originated from a famous Italian allusion. In the times of ancient Rome, there was a kindhearted lady falling in love with a young man who was witched to be indifferent to the lady. The lady was so depressed and sits in front of the window crying day and night. Finally, her love had touched the Gods. They sent the Triangel to the lady which could make the witch appear in front of the young man. The young man realized that his true love was the lady and they had fallen in love again!” Riyo said as Hong Ki blew his nose on a tissue.

“Really beautiful stories, I now want one of these dolls” Hong Ki said handing the doll back to Riyo

“Yeah it’s beautiful” Riyo said as she placed the doll back on her table.

“Are those all from one guy?” Hong Ki asked pointing to them.

“Yep. All from one person. I told him about how much I love these dolls and he went every where to look for them and got me different ones.”

“Awww he really must love you! Who is he?” Hong Ki asked.

“He loves me a lot…even till this day” Riyo whispered as Hong Ki looks at her. “I mean he’s gone…” Riyo said as she places the doll back into the box.

“Oh…sorry” he said as Riyo smiled at him.

“It’s okay” Riyo said as she continues to line up the dolls and noticed a photo at the bottom.

“Ah I should head out now, I talk to you later” Hong Ki said as he grab his crunch and head out the room.

Riyo pulled the photo out from the box as she look at the picture. The picture was taken 2 years ago at the amusement park and the person that was hugging her in the photo was Jungmin. She flips the photo and noticed writings behind it as she read it,

“This got to be like our millionth picture together and I know you must be tired of them but I really want to collect our moments together because you are very special to me. These pictures will be our memories together forever”

Riyo place the photo on the table as tears whelm up in her eyes.

“I don’t know what to do now…Mike tell me what to do” she whispered.

Hong Ki got off he taxi as he walks around the station,

“Man I should have asked who I am picking up because there are like millions of people here” Hong Ki mumbled as he looks around.

Hideaki and Kaiyo got of the train as they begin to walk toward the entrance but Hideaki grab her arm.

“Kaiyo, I want to tell you something” Hideaki said as Kaiyo stop and look at him.

“Yes?”

“Remember I told you I want to be with somebody I love?” Hideaki asked as Kaiyo nodded her head. “That person I already found”

“Really?” Kaiyo said as she felt her heart suddenly beating fast.

“That person is you” Hideaki said as he grabs both her hand and pull her closer to him, “I wanted to tell you for a long time, you’re the one that I’ve been searching for” he said as he leans forward toward her staring into her eyes.

She closes her eyes as she felt his lips getting closer to hers. Her heart beating wildly as if it wants to leap out from her chest. She could feel his warm breathing against her lips.

“Hideaki…we shouldn’t do this” Kaiyo whispered.

“I know, my brain tells me no but my heart is telling me to do it or else I will regret it” he whispered back as his lips lock onto hers. Her eyes closed as she didn’t fight back. The feeling she was sensing was different. The world around her disappeared as it never exists in her mind as she felt only they were the only ones there.

“OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!” a voice from distance yelled as Kaiyo’s eyes open as Hideaki’s and they turn to find a young blonde guy staring at them with his mouth open wide pointing at them.

Chou sat at her desk as she noticed her boss wasn’t in his room,

“Yes, I can do my work without distraction” Chou said happily as she turns on her computer as a young lady ran to her table.

“Chou why are you still here?!” she asked.

“Why what happen?” Chou asked.

“Everybody is called to the press conference room. Mr. Kim specially told me when you come in to take you there!” she said as she drags Chou off her chair.

“What is going on?!” Chou asked as they ran to the elevator.

“Don’t know but a lot of reporters are here already. He said he got an important announcement” she said as the elevator door closes and soon they arrive at the press conference room.

There was a lot of reporters sitting in the front as the employees were all in the back wondering what is happening. The young girl drag Chou toward near the front of the crowd as Yesung walked out and sat in the front of the room.

“Thank you for coming today. I call this press conference is because I have something important to announce” Yesung said.

“Mr. Kim is it about your engagement to Ms. Sunny Lee?” one reporter as Yesung nodded his head.

“Did you finally pick a date?” another one asked.

“Not really…” Yesung said.

“Is it true after your marriage your company will merge with her family?”

“I heard that her family is involve with illegal business is it true?” another one asked as they all raise their hands to speak.

“I will answer all your questions so please be patience. This press meeting is about my engagement with Sunny. And that is, I hereby state the engagement between the Kim and the Lee, me and Sunny is off.”
